Many, if not all Alp hotels are famous for the good care of its guests (and we checked quite a few in our 40+ years of skiing), but Granvara by far is on the top of our list.   "Great for family skiing holidays - good value"
  "We stayed at Astor for one week in February 2012. We were a group of 4 families travelling together. This was our third time in the Dolomites and second time in Selva Val Gardena. The hotel is centrally located. Closest lift is the Dantercepies (just a minute's walk), a longer walk to Ciampinoi (fiv..."e minutes). Dantercepies can be very crowdy and chaotic in the morning so I prefer the Ciampinoi lift. For both lifts it is best to start before 9 am. The skiing in the Dolomites is excellent!! The hotel is clean, and we had a spacious room accomodating 3 people on the top floor. We also had an additional room for single use, just next to ours. The hotel decor is somewhat dated (looks like the 70's in the lobby/bar/restaurant area). We had halfboard and the food was excellent with good variation. The breakfast buffet was satisfactory. At breakfast we received the menu for the evening dinner and chose what we wanted to eat. This worked well - just remember that there was no room for changing... " More >

What I do know is that the Hotel Solaia was a perfect place for our ski vacation in Selva. Egon and his team were gracious, friendly, and accommodating for our gr..."oup of 12 the entire week. My husband and I and 2 other couples in our group had rooms in the newer outbuilding. Our room was huge with a large deck that looked over the ski trail going by. I think there is a wide variety in room views and sizes so I can't speak to all but I know many in our group had wonderful rooms with very nice views. We had breakfast and dinner there each night and very much enjoyed it. Service was prompt and the variety and quality of meals was excellent. They have a very comfortable bar area for apres-ski or pre- and post-dinner gatherings managed by Joseph who was funny, friendly, and wonderful to us all week. I also think the location is perfect.
