Taxis are few and far between in the area, and so the manager David went as far as driving us 3 miles into Llanwrst and picking us after losing time for the price of a vodka and tonic! We were warmly greeted by Judy (and her Lurcher Finn) who after showing us our guest rooms served us afternoon tea in front of the fireplace in the "breakfast room". Later on that evening we played cards by candlelight in the ..."same room. We stayed in the Kings Room and loved it. Our friends stayed in the other guest bedroom Both had great beds and pillows. Warm and cozy. We wandered thru the gardens and were particularily amazed at the size of trees. Some planted in 1625! Breakfast was delicious. A benefit of staying at the castle is that a self guided tour of the castle is included. We took our tour on the morning of our departure (after a delicious Welsh breakfast). Each room we visited had literature which explained both the function of the room and furniture in it. We spent about 1 1/2 hours on our tour. The atmosphere was perfect for our party's theme, and the staff on hand in the evening were very professional and friendly. The bed was very comfortable in our room, but one downside is that wifi signal is very patchy (the first room had nothing at all, and the second room was barely there at all). Breakfast was great the next morning - we were offered a slightly later time because of the function the night before, and were still able to have the full choice of menu.
