The rooms were fantastic (they even surprised us on our last night by moving all of our things to a large room with a balcony since we were on our honeymoon!), and Joao's breakfast was incredible.   "The location is excellent as it is in between the city sights and the riverside restaurants, where you cross the river to the the Port tasting cellars. This is an elegantly decorated spacious one bedroom apartment with 2 (small) double beds plus a single bed which doubles as a couch. The kitchenet..."te and bathroom area are relatively small. Whilst the kitchen had most utensils, we found the area a little too small to tempt us into cooking a meal particularly when there was a fabulous and cheap restaurant just down the hill on the same road (O Caracas). Paula is friendly and welcoming and kindly let us stay a a few hours longer as no one was using the apartment the next day. It would have been nice to have had a dish rack to dry the breakfast dishes and a couple of hooks in the bathroom to hang the handtowel. (A larger towel rack was provided in the bedroom for bath towels). However these are only minor issues and they wouldn't stop us from coming here again. " More >

  "The hotel is old and could use a facelift, but we found it to be enjoyable and clean. The location is perfect for exploring the city. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was good - make sure you try the fresh squeezed orange juice. I would recommend it to others."
