Using the free public transport pass (provided to you upon check in), getting up and down town is hassle free. We spent quite a lot of time down at Ouchy (waterfront) so..." having the metro next door was perfect (it's only 3 stops down). It's in a quiet neighbourhood, and there's a nice park and botanical gardens a few minutes walk down the hill (take the path upwards when in the park - you'll get a great view of the city, lake and Alps). The hotel looks new, nicely renovated - more boutique style than chain. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. The room was perfect - not much in the way of having a view (rooms at the back probably do though). Get outside and enjoy the fresh air and the amazing views from elsewhere in the city.
