  "I just stayed with a group of 16 at Hotel Olivedo and the equally special Villa Toretta. This was my third visit with a group in tow, and once again, everyone in the group thanked me for booking these hotels. The reason is that they are elegant without being too pricey, and make you feel like you ar..."e in the romantic Italy of our imaginations. The good news for those who appreciate modern comforts is that Laura has replaced the old windows and doors with double panes, cutting down on the ferry noise at Olvedo (and will do the same for Villa Torretta this coming winter), and added an elevator at the back that serves most of the floors. I love Varenna and have tried many of its restaurants with my groups, and at the end of each stay they all come to the same conclusion: The food at Olivedo is the best. The lake trout, lavarelli, are prepared as filets, no bones, heads or fins, (yes!) and the other dishes are succulent and satisfying, too. We had roast chicken that amazed everyone, and... " More >
