We were upgraded from standard to superior without extra cost and parking in the hotel underground car park was given to us free. The lifts were new and very efficient all the way fro..."m the car park to the 7th floor where we had a room with a marvelous rooftop veranda. The room was not large but the outdoor space made it huge. The bath was splendidly deep, though not full length. It was perfect for me. The place was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I still find the lack of a kettle in European hotels a mystery to me but there was a cafe open on the ground floor and a drinks machine available on the 5th floor. The terrace on this floor is open at the weekends only at the moment. The reception staff were charming and efficient. We quickly found the Hotel Ciutat de Girona, where we were immediately helped with our luggage, clear directions to their garage, and a comfortable room with everything we needed. The staff at the hote..."l is exceptional, always helpful(bravo to the woman who runs the breakfast service in the morning!). Understated warmth and hospitality-am not sure how else to put it but it was what we always look for and often do not find. The hotel is located in the new part of the city-shops, restaurants and an incredible film museum. Steps away, you cross one of many foot bridges to the old city and enter a different place and time-the wall, cathedral, walking the Call, the double staircase, all amazing.
