  "The apartment is furnished to a very good standard and everything we needed was available, the lounge/bedroom/kitchen are furnished to 'owners quality' and not as a rental as we've sometimes had elsewhere. Penthouse floor shouldn't put you off, the lift was cleaned daily and very new! The apartmen..."t's balcony has brilliant views over the pool/gardens to the sea and on clear days Gibraltar can even be seen. The complex itself is well maintained with a fabulous pool and gardens and it is quite secure - the underground parking next to the apartment lift is a nice bonus. Regarding the location, there are a few bars/restaurants within walking distance (Rita's Sol y Sierra is nearest and does a mean Brit/Tapas fusion menu)) but a car is definitely needed to bring in a wider variety of options and indeed to reach some nice beaches.   "My daughter had been working hard at university and with a project straight after her exams, she needed a break and so I decided to take her to the Gran Hotel Elba Estepona. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our lovely Junior Suite overlooking the sea and the garden. The room was beautiful..." and spacious with a jacuzzi bath and spa shower. We were on all-inclusive and made straight for the Arena Restaurant for cocktails. The pool area was peaceful and relaxing, plenty of beds around. The food in the buffet was a little.... samey. All variations on a theme but no matter, it was fresh and there was plenty of it. We stuck to the pool area in the morning and went up to a terrace behind the heated pool upstairs in the afternoons because my daughter found the unheated pool a little too chilly. There, we found a heavenly spot with hardly any people and an incredible view of the beach. There is no entertainment at this hotel, at least at this time of year. This did not matte... " More >

  "My husband and I are new Marriot vacation club members and were contemplating staying at this resort or the Marabella resort (which we ended up visiting our last day ). I prefer and recommend THIS resort because the layout is perfect and more private. However, if you have children, traveling with ..."a large group, or are single, the Marabella Marriott would probably be more accomodating. My husband and I relaxed the entire time thanks to the wonderful service, and great amenities. The prices for the marketplace, restaurants, etc. were also reasonable compared to other Marriotts. For dinner, I would recommend visiting Puerta Banus-so many restaurants and shops, not to mention fabulous people waching! It's not a question of if we will be back, but when! :) " More >
