Stayed there last week as part of a conference that was being held in the John D. Bradley Convention Centre located on the same property. More on that later. We were on the secon..."d floor and, for a no smoking area, one was hit in the face by stale cigarette smoke upon exiting the elevator. This created a first impression that was not easy to dispel. The front desk staff was terrific and very accommodating. The room was clean and there were no issues with housekeeping. But the cigarette smell, well ...... This property has the makings of a world class centre for medium sized conferences except for the fact that there is no connection between the hotel and the conference centre.   "I stayed here with a large group (23 people) for the provincial badminton tournaments (May 2, 3 and 4) and I had a fine time. Frank, the manager, was a gem and was very helpful and hospitable. His commitment to service is something I wish more hotels had especially bigger chains. He was very helpful..." with restaurant recommendations and reservations and we even received a complimentary appetizer at the excellent Portuguese restaurant next door. For planning a stay for a sporting tournament it is a great affordable option and I highly recommend it. All of the sporting venues were within 15 min max. drive away as well as other places such as restaurants. Downtown Chatham is only a 5 min drive away. The rooms were ample size and kept quite clean. I always had new towels and I slept quite well. My only recommendation to supervisors of students who choose this venue is to make sure the students' rooms are on the 2nd floor as the first floor rooms have direct access to the parking lot...
