Nicola and the team helped me with my French and recommended must see/do visits, restaurants, top tips, shops to get this and that - nothing was too much trouble. My room was very comfortable with ample space, clean and extremely quiet - important if you are a light sleeper. This was my second stay in 2012 at Hotel de France et de Russie so I speak from experience, it’s a gem of a hotel. If, like me, you are bored with the prefabricated, characterless, corporate hotels that dominate Europe head here for charm and friendly hospitality – you won’t regret it but you will remember it long after your vacation is over. I came in by train from close to the Spanish border having set off at 6.am. and so was particularly weary due to the va..."garies of the SNCF.( train cancelled and bus instated at one point) I'd recommend folk stay here as an "etape" en route either to or from GB. Its geographically good for connections north - south ( Spain-UK) or east -west ( Bordeaux) and the owner will revive your faith in the human race. Excellent plumbing. Restaurants nearby.   "An excellent small hotel in a very calm and quiet village. Very clean, quite up-to-date for a historical property, nicely provisioned rooms with all the expected amenities. Friendly and welcoming staff and owner. Not handicap accessible (there is no elevator, and all rooms are upstairs). No r..."estaurant on the premises (hence it is a 2 star hotel, not a 3 star), but there are several good restaurants within a short walk of the hotel, the hotel staff will help you decide where to go. The 'St. Roch' pub 5 minutes walk down the road is a good choice for dinner. Free Wi-Fi, free parking, very secure parking area provided for motorcycles. All in all a delightful find, I recommend this hotel and would gladly return. " More >
