"People who visited hogenakkal might know that it is a very small tourist town with lot of hotels/lodge which lack a great deal of quality. Even if you are ready to pay higher amounts, you won't be able to get better accommodation.
Hotel tamilnadu is your best bet. It is the biggest and perhaps the ..."oldest too. It is the only hotel with a fixed tariff. Others may change tariff depending upon the season/kind of person you are. It also houses a not so good restaurant and an only bar of the town. You have to shell out 700 plus 70 for non ac and 1000 plus 177 for non ac rooms for two. There is bigger rooms and also a dormitory.
Hotel tamilnadu is the safest as is owned by govt, and if you ask me, it is the best bet.

"Honestly, I had selected this hotel because they were offering a 6-bed room for our family of 5+1 baby for 1200 rupees, which was the most economical among all other options.
When we arrived there, we were surprised to find the hotel well kept and well maintained despite being a 'government-run' ..."hotel. To add, when I surveyed the area in the evening, I realized that this hotel was actually the best among all options available in this size-zero town. It also happens to be the closest hotel to the falls.
Not your royal luxurious overnight stay experience, but excellent value-for-money. Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom, courteous hotel and kitchen staff... can't ask for more...

"If you are not the 'pampered type' in stay, this is a decent hotel to be in. A double bed room cost Rs1200 (with taxes) which I would say is not only less but also worth the money spent. I have heard lot of bed bug stories and unhygienic environments in other hotels. Hotel Tamil Nadu stands apart wi..."th a clean arena and ample move around and parking space [ which means that you don't have to buy the parking ticket that people force you for parking during entrance ].
To set expectations right,
- the place is not a state of the art facility
- not hot water but the environment does not demand for it
- Food is very limited with about 3 - 5 choices only.
- You may want to buy your own water cans / water bottles as they always run out of stock of water
- Food bills are treated separate and you have to pay every time. ( I guess their food management is different )
- No swimming etc., They have cycling for hire and you can go around.
Overall, I would say the hotel is good if you are ...
