There are some buildings which were newer and fewer problems than others. I think we were in Bldg 4, top floor, we paid extra for an ocean view jr suite. We were told on checking in that there had only been a few people in the room before us, and it was lovely, clean, spacious, and wonderful cleaning staff, who were very helpful, even when I misplaced things, the lovely maid knew right where I had left it and showed me! We just missed the opening of the new Royal Service, which I would love to experience a next time. I found most of the staff helpful and happy.   "We arrived at Varadero rather late, pulling in to the Viazul bus station only around 9pm (from Santa Clara). I didn’t know how we were going to get to the Iberostar Tainos and thought a taxi would have been our only option, turns out, that Viazul offers a “resort shuttle” of sorts, so for a 3 CUCs p..."er person, you board the shuttle and the driver will go around to all the resorts at Varadero and drop everyone off at their respective resorts. Brilliant. At the reception, we were met by a very friendly bellhop who also offered us a welcome drink when we queued to check-in. Apparently the resort does not receive many Singaporeans, so they say. We were shown to our room located on the ground floor, a corridor away from the lobby and lounge area. It was huge, and came with three beds even if we were only two persons. Bathroom was spacious too. The mini-bar had stock of soft drinks and beer, and was free for guests. My only gripe was that the lighting was rather dim, not the best for reading... " More >
