Although the accommodation is bed & breakfast, the facilities are those of a self catering property giving the best of both worlds. The self service br..."eakfast was fantastic, with so much choice. Also, we were able to lie in a couple of mornings and take breakfast at our own time and pace. Vicopisano is beautiful with a good selection of restaurants and a well stocked mini supermarket where we bought some excellent food for lunch and dinner. The locals were very frendly and helpful, despite our pitiful attempts at Italian. Finally, we couldn't have wished for better hosts, as Massimo & John were both kind and friendly and our two boys loved them (and it takes something to impress two 13 year old boys!).   "Firstly - thank you Massimo for coming to get us in Vicopisano when the bus driver let us off at the wrong stop - even when we showed him the instructions that you had given to us to show to the driver. Also, thanks for driving us to the train station on our departure and helping to get our luggage..." on to the train. The B & B is very secure with electronic gates. Our room was large with an en suite - and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a help yourself style - and there sure was plenty to chose from - also plenty of pots and pans and cutlery. The use of the washing machine was really appreciated. If you don't feel up to cooking, or walking into the village for a meal -or are just plain lazy (as we were on one occasion) the local pizza place delivers - There is also a sitting room with a small library - . There is also a lovely terrace to sit and have the odd glass of wine (or three) Unfortunately, because of the wet weather, we did not have much of a chance to explore too m... " More >

  "I have been coming to this village for over 10 yrs and have been staying with Massimo for a good part of this, in the old style B&B and now the revamped with en suite rooms. It is one of my daughters favourite places. I brought friends for the first time last week and they were amazed with everythin..."g about it. The space, size of the rooms the fridge constantly being checked to ensure enough food, and how relaxed you feel when you are there.They have rooms to cater from 2-4 people so if you have children they can stay safely in the same room as you if you should so require. The local transport is second to none, it is a pity that the UK cannot take some ideas from them. Massimo & Jon are great, caring hosts, Jon's knowledge of the area is great as he knows so many people, so you will never be stuck with a place to go. I will be going back again later in the year.
