  "La Piagetta is a perfect place to relax and unwind. Due to its prime location right by the lake and its large garden with palmtrees, it's peaceful and offers a great starting point for excursions to Lucca (20min), Viareggio (25min), Pisa (20min) and the beautiful wild beaches of Marina Di Vecchiano ..."(30min). The two ladies leading it speak very well English and German and are very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast is varied with fresh fruit, bread, salami, cheese, cereals, Yoghurt and the best we had during our 2 weeks' trip through Umbria, Rome and Tuscany. Bring something against mosqitos, as due to the location by the lake they are around. You can do your own barbecue in the garden, if you like. The rooms are spacious, though not huge. The bathrooms are new and modern, the beds are comfortable. We enjoyed our 3 nights there a lot and would definitely stay there again/recommend it to others. " More >

  "We stayed here for a week in June 2012 and had a wonderful time with our 3 year old boy. The place is incredible, as is its history. If you get chance, you should ask Claudia about her grandfather and the visits of Puccini to buy his duck shooting permit for the lake! The villa is beautiful a..."nd the gardens are gorgeous, with palm trees protecting you from the wind off the lake. You need a car to get around, but if you ask Claudia may let you borrow their bikes as there are lots of quiet country roads and tracks to explore, especially the old huts along the channels to the lake that the eel fishermen built. The location is plumb centre between the mountains and the sea, both of which are a very short drive away and the views are wonderful. We had a lovely day on the boat on the lake, but you need to choose a calm day for this! All in all, I can completely recommend this place.
