We booked thru Vivantabytaj.com website and we got really good offer for 5 nights. I opted only for break fast and not all..." meals inclusive as we wanted to eat out as well! When we reached the air port, we were picked up by Vivanta's a/c shuttle (complementary pick up and drop). It took us good 1 hr to reach the destination. Upon arrival we were greeted with beads and a nice non-alcoholic drink (Guava juice with tabasco sauce ... really amazing!). Then our luggage was neatly arranged by the staff. Then one of the managers approached me and took me to his table, where upon looking at my reservation upgraded me to a cottage room rather than the basic room I had booked..Wow!!   "This was the second Taj property that Trinetra Tours booked for us during our 12 day India tour. We very much enjoyed the beach & pool here. The rooms were nice & clean, but the bathrooms had some mildew & things look rather worn...but there was fresh paint & floors look good. One room smelled of..." cig smoke, the other of some chemical, making it unpleasant in the rooms, though we didn't want to ask to change because it's difficult to get interconnecting rooms. Construction made approach to/from lobby difficult when entering/leaving with your bags. Toiletries were nice & they even had conditioner, but the bottles were cheap like you'd get at a hotel less than 5 stars. Food was good, although there are many people, so lots of people on the breakfast buffet. Dining at the Latitude restaurant was good & reasonably priced.   "POSITIVES----We found the place excellent in every aspect. The rooms are spacious, the cottages all nicely spaced out with lots of green cover, superb pool, baby pool and bar. There is a lot of walking involved to get around, but there are buggies which are driving around that one can hop onto. The ..."staff is friendly and courteous . The children's activity centre has enough to keep them busy... X box, carom, scrabble, art n craft material and a whole schedule of planned activities each day.the adventure activities were the best part. Rappelling , Jummaring, rock climbing etc. the team is a group of well trained men who give a lot of confidence so much so that my 8 year old daughter who wouldn't even consider a physically demanding activity leave alone scary one ,did it all!
