My room was on the first floor above the front door and it was a double room (King sized bed) with loads of space and a very clean and pleasant bathroom. My colleageue had a similar rom on the same floor. The only drawback to my room was the cigarette smoke travelling up from the car park and intomy bedroom through my open window. The dinner menu was varied and reasonably priced with a set 3 courses for £20. When our order arrived, Thai mussels followed by rump steak, chips, salad & onion rings, all for £19.50, it was very fresh, well prepared and presented. Breakfast was amazing and I ended up eating three times what I would normally eat as it all looked so good, and once again there was a roaring fire and a friendly helpful staff member. Room was great: original, warm and fully equipped. A welcome change from chain, generic hotel rooms that feel the same the world over. A truly English gem!
