We took a songthaew from the bus station to our first choice but they were full so we asked the driver to recommend a place and he brought us here. We walked into the ground open air area of this huge teak building and were kind of amazed. It was a pleasant place to sit and had interesting decoration. When... More

The location can't be beat. The night market is a 15 min walk away. The teak architecture is beautiful. The reception area was spacious and there was free coffee and tea available. One word of warning: all of the rooms have glass partitions over the door. The lights are left on in the hallway all night making it near impossible... More

This hotel is in a beautiful teak building. Rooms are basic but comfortable enough with everything you need - air con, toilet, shower... We very much enjoyed our stay and service is friendly, although almost exclusively in Thai. Body language worked just fine. Location is good for exploring the old city and prices are good (450-600 bht). Recommended!

Phrae (pron. 'pear') is a friendly and happy small town with plenty to enjoy in an unhurried two/three night stay. If you do not have independent wheels then locating yourself close to the old city is a must. Bua Khao (Room 11) is perfect. Firm bed in a small, simple room and clean with basic a/c and a fan. A... If you are going to stay anywhere in Phrae, stay here. The city is known for its exquisite teak houses mainly congregating in the old city, so was wonderful to stay in this hospitable, clean and aesthetically fitting place. Basic but cute room with lattice work windows. Simple fittings, mostly all of teak wood too, and a typically hard, but... More

This place was lovely! I was travelling with my dad and we have been to some other hotels close by, which looked very poor already from the outside, and then we ran into this amazing location.... Beautifully decorated with wooden handcrafts! The hostess is the sweetest person! Very kind, polite en always smiling. The room was huge, very spacious and... More

Amazing teak building, which for me was reason enough to stay there. In spite of the great exterior the rooms are however rather dull, but clean and functional enough. 450 baht for "larger" room (not so large really, but OK enough) with en-suite hot shower, AC and WiFi. Close to city center with walking distance to the market, and that's... More

It's a nice place to stay. Amazing wooden architecture, but for the rest quite simple. The staff doesn't really speak english. Free wifi in the lobby and in our room aswell! A great place if you want a nice and quiet place to stay with not to much fuz going on in the hotel. The bathroom is clean, but very... More

We arrived in Phrae without having booked anything and found Bua Khao by driving around, for 450baht per night this place is great value. LOCATION: The location is very central and within walking distance to the night market, shops and eating establishments. TYPE OF ROOM: Double room 450b per night. The building itself is mainly timber and Thai style and... More
