We stayed here on our trip to The Lakes. We stayed in the cottage attached to the pub. The rooms were comfortable and clean and having a kitchen and sitting room was great. We were able to have our two dogs with us and they were also welcome in the pub at night and for breakfast. The bathroom was a... More

We visited the horse and farrier for a meal to celebrate my husbands birthday. As soon as we arrived and opened the door we were hit by the strong smell of wet dogs. We had booked a table which turned out to be in the snug, which unfortunately was occupied by a couple and their large wet golden retriever. The... More

Whilst I do like to eat in quality restaurants, there are times when you can't beat top quality pub food. The Horse and Farrier serves hearty portions of top quality pub food. Prompt, efficient service, from helpful, humorous staff, with a decent selection of real ales, in a traditional 'Country Pub' environment, ticked all the boxes for my hungry family.... More

We came here as a party of 8 for Sunday lunch, and had a great time. It was very rainy and gloomy outside, but the inside of the pub was very cosy and warm! It has a very traditional feel to it, and was exactly the kind of place you want to be when it's miserable outside. Their Sunday lunch... More

We walked to threkeld with our 18 month old from Keswick. This was an excellent place to stop for lunch offering two courses for £6.95 which wasn't advertised on the menu. My husband loves his real ale and was happy with his Jennings bitter. We didn't try it but the fish and chips looked pretty spectacular.

If you want value for money, this is the place for you! Wow, wow, wow!! The place was packed on a Monday evening, always a good sign! Service was very quick and the food was lovely. I think it might be the first time ever I have left chips on my plate, there was so much food! However, after a... More

Arrived for a late lunch on Saturday - left 3 hours later, blown out and still savouring the dishes. It helped that it was a beautiful sunny day in the lakes - but we would have loved this anyway, Pate starters were nicely delivered on a bed of lettuce, Sea Bass main course was in a great jus and the...
