A comfortable room complete with a sofa to lounge on. Bathroom compact but perfectly functional. We were advised to book a table for dinner and were glad we did, the place was packed even on a Thursday! Very friendly service, good food and excellent ale. Free WiFi available but my smartphone wouldn't pick it up in our room. If you're... More

We were greeted at the door with a genuinely friendly welcome, shown to a table in the snug, and offered menus. The Jennings bitter was spot on. We share a beef sandwich and chips and a caesar salad, which worked well. The curry on a neighbouring table smelled really good, as did the beef pie - but too much for... More

Stayed with my husband and our 1 yr old for one night. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was a little shabby but didn't put us off as it's an old in so what else can you expect. Dinner was amazing! The food is just delicious. Catered well for little one too. Decent night sleep and lovely breakfast in... More

First the good points. The Horse and Farrier is a very attractive inn in a good location for access to the lakes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, no complaints at all there. The food is also very good, meals start from around £9.95 for steak and ale pie, and if you want to splash out you can pay... More

We stayed here for just the one night on a visit to see the family in the lakes, and have to say a big thank you to all the staff. If anyone wants to understand the meaning of friendly, helpful customer service then they need look no further than the H&F. The Inn is a 17th century gem, clean comfy... More

The Horse and Farrier was recommended to us as somewhere we might want to hold a family pub meal so two of us thought we'd check it out before booking for the big group in a could of weeks. The service was really good and the meal very tasty and fresh. Delicious yorkshire puddings. We will be back

We enjoyed our family stay with three rooms for two nights at the horse and farrier. It was very comfortable with nice clean simple rooms. A little small but what you expect in a 17th century pub. Location is convenient for Keswick and for the northern fells and lakes. Excellent stay. Staff are first class and very welcoming. Included breakfast... More

Was so looking forward to our meal here as we had Sunday lunch a while ago which was delicious. We were so disappointed, 3 out of the 4 meals we ordered were burnt and the 4th borderline. It was truly awful. And they had the nerve to stick our burnt fish in chips in mock frying baskets to make them... More
