Arrived for a late lunch on Saturday - left 3 hours later, blown out and still savouring the dishes. It helped that it was a beautiful sunny day in the lakes - but we would have loved this anyway, Pate starters were nicely delivered on a bed of lettuce, Sea Bass main course was in a great jus and the... Decided to have an evening meal here as we were staying in the area. We didn't pre book a table as we didn't think it was busy but it was. Even though they were busy, they found a table for us straight away. We were promptly served with drinks and was surprised how quick our food was served. All our... More

Called in yesterday for lunch with friends and had an excellent meal, good wine and top class service from all staff. We sat outside at one of the tables with large umbrellas. Great atmosphere with lots of people enjoying the sun and the fact it was Friday! I almost dont want to tell anyone about the fantastic 'seniors' lunch option... More

We frequented the Horse & Farrier for our evening meal on three occasions and we were never disappointed. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the owners are very friendly. We were allowed to take our dogs into the pub whilst we dined and they were also treated well. The menu was very extensive and difficult to choose but the... More

Stayed overnight on a Saturday in this busy pub. Our room was ok but not particularly spacious and I would say a fairly standard b&b quality. The pub has loads of atmosphere, the food is good and service friendly. Enjoyed our stay and would return. Bear in mind however that the rooms are above the pub and it's very noisy... More

This was our second stay here, but this time our accommodation was in the sister pub "The Sally" where rooms accommodate dogs. Lovely spacious and warm bedrooms with large wardrobes offering ample storage for walking gear. You walk across to the Farrier for breakfast (a few yards) and are not left hungry with the self service selection of juices, cereals... More

Stayed for six nights at this excellent B & B in a superb location close to the foot of Blencathra and easily accessible from the A66. Used this as a base for visiting various locations in the Northern Lakes during our stay. Excellent breakfasts. Very friendly staff. Busy restaurant for evening meals with a good variety of well cooked food... More

This was a first stop on a mountain biking holiday and it is lovely. I stayed for one night and had dinner. As a single guest I was made to feel more than welcome. The room was clean and comfy and from a biking point of view I was able to store my bike securely overnight. I ate at the... More
