I have been in the UK for about a week now and this was the best pub I have been to so far. Mum and I walked the Keswick Railway Footpath from Keswick to Threlkeld (I highly recommend it if you are in Keswick) and wanted to get something to eat and drink before we walked back to Keswick. We... More

I called in to the village one evening on my way back from a business meeting. The pub looked welcoming with candles in the window and fireplace. I enjoyed tender lamb roast dinner and glass of rioja. Colin behind the bar was busy yet was able to deliver service with a smile. Highly recommended.

Visited this pub at Easter week so went on a daily basis, weather was stunning so sat in garden at the rear which had plenty of seating area, however the service by Colin behind the bar was dreadful, the most miserable person I've ever came across working in a bar, he almost put me off my beer, very sarcastic too,... I must admit we descended en mass, on our way to our cottage in the Lakes. We also wanted to watch the Arsenal v Liverpool game and this place seemed to fit the bill. I'd have thought that with 18 of us landing for lunch, he'd have been really pleased to see us, but sadly not. It's a great little... More

A friend and I came to this pub after a walk, we didn't stay for food, and the pub was much quieter than its sister pub across the road, but the service and friendly staff were what made this pub. Charlotte and Martin couldn't have been friendlier, we would have goneback across the road to eat in a busier pub,... More

Stayed in the Sally and Horse and Farrier a few times and it's alway a very warm welcome . The staff are always very helpful and friendly .The service has always been fantastic especially Colin in the Sally Inn for entertainment value! The locals are also friendly and great to get on with. The food was excellent as usual and... More

Further to my review of the Horse & Farrier, I also ventured to The Sally during both Christmas Day and New Years Eve. Originally we were planning on going in to Keswick for New Years Eve but after having a cracking time on Christmas Day evening, and being made very welcome by the owner, we decided to stay on further.... We were staying in the Horse and Farrier the sister pub across the road which was very pleasant. As the restaurant in the Horse and Farrier is exactly that and not really a bar we decided on the second evening to pop across to 'the Sally' and have a drink here. The guy behind the bar was very abrupt, I... More

We stopped here for lunch having walked along the disused railway from Keswick. From the minute we took a seat it was clear the barman/landlord was completely disinterested in us. Everything was too much trouble and we only stayed put because we were waiting for the next bus to take us back to Keswick. If it hadn't been raining hard... More

On arrival seemed like a good find. Had four beer pumps although only one of these in use. So had to be the Wainwright which was very mediocre and too cold. The round for four of us was £17 which put us off staying so after our disapponting drink we adjourned to the Horse and Farrier which was in a... More
