We stayed with Doreen at Indian River Brook B & B on July 10 and enjoyed every minute. She is very accommodating and we had sore faces from laughing with her and the other guests during the excellent playing of the Ugly Stick! The B & B is comfortable and in a convenient location. The breakfast was delicious and a... More

Super B&B. When we walked in, we were offered tea and sweet bread by Doreen and our experience just got better from there. Doreen and her husband were very helpful providing places we should see. We stayed 2 nights in a small but very comfortable room - there was a great sitting area in a sunroom in the back. Doreen... More

My partner and I started off our recent Newfoundland holiday at this superb B and B and stayed here for three nights. Doreen made us feel as if we were a part of her family and when we left I had a lump in my throat. It's hard to put into words how welcoming and hospitable Doreen was. Her B... More

My review is long overdue and perhaps too late to be posting but I feel compelled to write about the hospitality of Doreen, who is unforgettable. Doreen runs a very organized B&B. (Sign at the door to the effect of take off your shoes or you'll clean the floor. Smart - easier to keep clean, which it is.) Food was... More

If you want to get a taste of rural Newfoundland, this is a special place to stay. Proprietor, Doreen makes each guest feel welcome and maintains a very clean and pleasant place. She is more than happy to recommend places to see, including ice berg sightings, and where to go to get that special meal or buy that special item.... More

The rooms were lovely but i found the mattresses had seen better days..The owner had the place for sale and was away at the time of our stay..Cavell was very entertaining but I expected that the experience would be what we saw online...A little pricey for what we got..

Our group of two couples had a wonderful time with Doreen at this very pretty B&B in the "middle of nowhere but near the Trans Canada highway." The rooms were comfortable, and the "kitchen party in the evening" was a lot of fun. We did not have any such event at the other B&B's we stayed at during our holiday.... More

It was a pleasure to return to this b&b located in a quiet spot in the countryside, not too far from the Trans Canada Highway but far enough away not to hear it. We enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep on an extremely comfortable bed in a spacious room with an ensuite. Darlene is a warm and fun hostess who reminded... More

Doreen Canning is such a warm person and excellent cook. We were surprised with a home-cooked dinner--cod au gratin with a green and apple salad and toasted Parmesan bread followed by a partridgeberry trifle. The breakfast next morning was the best pancake breakfast we ever had--a stack of pancakes with lots of blueberries and other fruit and delicious back bacon.... More

The building, rooms, grounds are typical B&B. What makes this special is the hostess/owner. She welcomes you to her home, gives good advice regarding local attractions and restaurants, serves a great breakfast and entertains with the singing of Newfoundland songs.
