We spent one night here after a day of touring in the region. The property was a bit tricky to find but well worth it. It is a bed and breakfast in a wonderfully restored chateau and vineyard, The Anglo-French proprietors are gracious and sociable. We enjoyed a glass of their own wine (very nice!) and were directed to the... More

We've now stayed at Mayragues three times over the last two years, and I can say without hesitation that it's now one of my few really treasured places. The setting is sensational (about 10 kms north-west of Gaillac, but totally rural in gorgeous rolling countryside), with the Chateau sitting at the heart of a working, wine-producing vineyard. The building is... More

Maybe it was an unusual day but the welcome was unpleasant and left a bitter taste. I had reserved the two rooms of this "chambre d'hote" for two nights in July and we showed up at about 1PM. The man of the house opened and coldly said "yes?", as if he expected no one. I explained that we had two... More

The setting here is perfect. When we climbed the big staircase to our room, which is probably equivalent to 4 stories, I couldn't have been happier. We opened the windows and just reveled in the gorgeous French countryside. Then the neighbors arrived. This chateau was built in the 1400's. You would think that the walls between the rooms were thick... More

Only a few words required for this venue. It is peaceful, tranquil, stunningly beautiful Chateau with a vine yard on your door step with some fantastic wine especially the sparkling and reds - worth a visit for these alone. The owners are very friendly and helpful. A visit you will not be disappointed with!

This is a beautiful and peaceful location in Southern France, convenient to much of what is known as the Golden Triangle. Convenient to many wineries and medieval cities. We arrived late in the evening after a long day and flight, and were warmly greeted. We enjoyed some of the wine produced on the premises in front of a roaring fire.... More

First a little background on how we ended up at Mayragues. We wanted to be in the south of France, and visit places like Albi and Cordes, but not stay where the tourist crowds were. So the Gaillac area seemed like a great spot. I read the Tripadvisor review (the only one) from 2008 and it sounded great. If you... More

My wife and I were looking for a place to stay in Gaillac for a few days to "forget" my 60th birthday! We wanted to be on a small, traditional and relatively unknown vignoble and chose Gaillac because this was the week of its "Primeur". One look at Alan and Laurence's website convinced us that this was the place. The... More
