My wife and I stayed at the Red Lion for half a night .... we left at 2.00 am as we couldn't stand the noise any longer. - We booked a Saturday night in late July through Late Rooms. - We were not informed that our Saturday night booking was during Chulmleigh Fair. - When we got to our room... Really lovely pub, very comfortable room, fantastic cooked breakfast and great value. We stayed for 2 nights during a very cold spell in April but our room was lovely and warm. Staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was served downstairs in the pub's restaurant area. Would highly recommend.

I have decided to write a complaint on tripadvisor as I have not had a response from the Red Lion about the following email I sent 2 weeks ago. It has now been 12 days since we left your establishment very displeased, we left our complaint with a member of staff and have waited to hear from you, as to... More

I recently stayed for one week with my family at the Red Lion in Chulmleigh and we had a really enjoyable stay. Unlike many English pubs which still suffer from bad taste and variable food, the Red Lion has been done up with style and also serves great food. In particular, the Red Lion boasts that it probably serves the... More

Although the Red Lion knew we were coming on Oct 9th we arrived after a fairly long journey just after 3pm to find the pub was closed until 5pm. Fortunately we met the barmaid leaving the building who let us in and showed us to our room. Particularly check access on Monday’s as the pub only opens at 5pm, so... More

As the manager at The Red Lion Hotel I would like to respond to your review. Obviously I am most diasappointed at some of your negative comments and would like the opportunity to respond to them. Firstly can I add that I am somewhat bemused that none of your concerns were raised with me during your stay - it was... More

We had booked a stay for 3 nights but had to leave after two because of lack of sleep. We were in room 3 which is above the bar and the noise from this was horrendous. Thumping music and much bar noise until 11.20 on the first night and 12.30 the second (and then only after we complained). After that... More

Really enjoyed a 1 night stay at The Red Lion. Comfy bed, excellent shower, great breakfast, friendly staff. Can highly recommend the pizzas on the menu for evening meal. Decor and fittings are all high standard and modern but still in keeping with the traditional style of the building which I also like.

Stayed one night last weekend. Large room, comfortable bed but a couple of things would make it better. Another pillow, only one flat pillow and no headboard so had to jam cushions under pillow to avoid losing it. Shower lovely static shower head though so as a female I would have liked a shower cap as didn't want to get... More

We were staying a nearby property and visited the pub 3 times - twice for drinks and once for dinner. The restaurant (at the back of the bar) is a lovely area - beautiful solid wood tables of varying sizes meant our party of 8 was very easily accomodated. The menu was mainly pizza (which is the house speciality and... More

We were staying here during the annual Culmleigh Fair. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, despite being very busy. They went out of their way to assist us when our bank cards wouldn't work in any machines in the village. Dinner was delicious. The room was really nice.
