Stopped off on way to Ambleside for afternoon (birthday) cake and coffee after seeing adverts in Lakeland magazines. The setting is great , at St john in the vale, set just off he main road from Keswick to Grasmere, and a lovely view can be had from the picture windows. However apart from that we found it a little cold,... More

Booked 2 double rooms to meet us with friends for a weekend break, and found this little gem for a great price per couple. It is situated on a country road 6 miles from Keswick, and is a lodge rather than a hotel. The reception closes at 9pm, as does the cafe within the lodge. Hot drinks and snacks are... More

I love this place, it is a little pricey but in my opinion it is worth it. The rooms are gorgeous and smell lovely. The food is also very nice. We initially wanted to stay in Windermere but we really liked the look of this place and Windermere was only a short drive away so it worked out well. Be... More

A last minute booking as night was closing gave us a good price at the surprising little place, very modern, clean and compact rooms; very friendly and helpful staff and a great continental breakfast but I would have loved bacon and eggs before our long day on the crags. The local pub that offered a discount to residents was not... More

Stayed at the Lodge 2 nights (Friday/Saturday). We booked last minute and struggled to find somewhere that was a) available and b) would take dogs. Location: We knew it was fairly remote but wanted to do some walking so we were fine with this. It's pretty easy to get to Keswick or Grasmere and beyond by car and there's a... More

We stayed here for 2 nights with our cocker spaniel. Rooms spacious and clean with terriffic views from the breakfast/bar area. Very comfortable bed, great shower and plentiful tea and cofee making facilities. Car parking on site. Continental breakfast included and we were not short of things to choose from. Highly recommend for dog owners and families with children.

Stayed for 2 nights over the August bank holiday weekend, great value break. We had a family room for 2 adults ahd 2 children. The room was spacious and very clean with a modern feel. Tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of amenities. The kids loved the bunk beds. We took our Cocker Spaniel along for the break and... More

Stayed at the lodge for a week recently for the first time. I know the Lake District very well and had been looking for accommodation in this area. Room very clean and spacious ,everything that you needed- tea and coffee facilities, tv with lots of channels, comfy beds, and a safe. Only criticism was bathroom could be half the size again!... This hotel had a lovely away from it all feel, close by to Keswick though to make it handy. Went on a lovely walk after we had gone to the Kings Head pub for lunch as the hotel doesn't have an on site place for a hot meal, however you get 10% off food and it's really close to the... More
