After spending a month in Panama travelling all around we feel like Hotel Anachoreo deserves our highest review. This place has a spectacular view, lovely breeze to enjoy while relaxing in hammocks, the Cambodian style dinner dishes are amazing and a cozy atmosphere while dining. Rooms are basic, but beautifully done. The road is not great to get there, but... More

We had dinner at this place and it was simply amazing, once of the nicest east-asian dishes I have ever had in my life. The restaurant is run by a friendly couple, the service is great and the prices are very reasonable. Make sure you reserve a seat in advance because this is a small restaurant with not many seats. This... More

My experience at this hotel was eye-opening! I stayed for 5 days, I found it very difficult to leave! The hotel is perched at a great lookout of the end-of-the-road mountain range. The cook creates delicious & beautiful presentation of Cambodian dishes! Their grounds are full of flowers, herbs, vegetables, fruits....where they feed their guests from! The room is huge... More

We found this hotel via trip advisor after looking for a comfortable pet friendly hotel. As previous reviews noted, the driveway was horrible and I wouldn't suggest venturing this way without 4WD. The stronger criticism, though, is that the owner claims to be pet friendly but won't allow pets in the rooms. How is this pet friendly?

Normally I try to remain polite to all our travellers including difficult ones but for this immature couple I gladly make an exception. Deliberately trying to hurt a business merely because you have a different definition of 'pet friendly'? As explained when you came by, and written on our website, we allow pets on the property but not inside the... More

Great hotel, host and hostess, and a beautiful view! We would strongly recommend the owners invest in some gravel for the driveway. We drove our rental car there and were able to manage, but when it rains it would be easy to get stuck if you didn't know what you're doing. A good value. The breakfast wasn't anything special, but... More

Dear Gwendolyn, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. You are absolutely right the access to our hotel is bad. If only it were our driveway! Unfortunately it is a municipal road and improvements we made to it fell victim to a bulldozer. Rest assured it won't remain this... More

This Hotel is just amazing! The rooms are spacious and clean, the bathroom is nicely decorated and everything works as it should. I really loved the breakfast, which was by far the best in whole Panama. Coffee from a nearby farm, Omelet with fresh vegetables from the garden ... great!! The restaurant is also top. The owners are super-friendly and... More

Thank you Mathias & Kathy, a review to frame and hang on the wall. Running a small hotel every guest we meet turns into a personal relationship and it is great when we can get along so well. We were glad to have the luxury of time to take you out to see a waterfall. It would be great if... More

I chose Anachoreo out of the Lonely plant book and felt so lucky. A very beautiful view , beautiful rooms and beautiful people . People that give you a home feeling away from home I enjoyed Marnix and Sineth's garden and was amazed by Sineh's cooking - An amazing food prepared from local ingredients. As a vegan she cooked for... More

Dear Ayelet, thank you for your wonderful review. I particularly like that you mention the home feeling. That is exactly the kind of experience we try to offer our guests. Sineth's cooking has a lot to do with it. To her there is no greater compliment than a guest who enjoys every dish. And our garden, our pride that grows... More

Dear Sjaak & Suzanne, Thank you for such a nice review. We love having families over, and it's a bonus when they're from the Netherlands. Santa Fe is a great place for children and I was glad your kids enjoyed themselves so well. Nog bedankt voor de shag, ik heb nog een klein beetje over. More

My family of 3 stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was very good with the extra bed a little separate which was nice for our adult daughter. The breakfast was excellent-- eggs, cheese, vegetables or pancakes, fresh local coffee, fresh squeezed juice and a plate of fresh fruit to finish. The Cambodian food at dinner was a treat. Spring...
