We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights on a 'deal ' .The buildings have been converted into a hotel from a Victorian school and the restaurant etc have been decorated with wallpaper & pictures relating to the school. as we'd expect from Cumbrian folk we were given a warm welcome by a delightful lady called Mrs Squirrel ! Her... More

My partner and I spent a weekend here recently in a weekend deal break. Our annexe room was rather small and basic but very clean. This smallish hotel was fairly full. The staff worked very hard and were pleasant. The menu in the evening was limited and food average to be honest - the quality of the steak poor; however... More

Stayed here for two nights bed & breakfast with two course evening meal included. Room 22 was tastefully decorated & clean with a superb spacious bathroom, all staff were pleasant, friendly, and helpful. The food was well cooked and tasty apart from one night my steak was full of grizzle, however they did offer to replace it. All in all... More

Just spent two nights [using Wowcher deal] with another couple for 2 nights 27/28 March. Cannot fault this hotel, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful - nothing seemed too much trouble and with genuine enthusiasm! The rooms were different, we were in the annexe [clean with good facilities but requiring a little up-dating - room 10]. Our friends were... More

Went yet again on Sunday for Dinner. Nice again but presentation different & chicken sauce lacking flavour than usual. Chicken fillet smaller than usual. Wouldn't put me off going again tho. Hubby had roast beef this time lacking Beef. Maybe their cutting back , overall nice but not as good as past visits.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Only downside was there were no plugs or light near the dressing table (room5) so difficult to dry hair n put on make up but it didn't spoil our stay. Lovely restaurant, good atmosphere. Food was good. Very easy to get out and about from there too.... More

Great location in the corner of the village, a walk away from the lively thoroughfare of Market Street. Lovely looking converted school house/church. Beautiful at night too. Great restaurant with good deals. Nice sitting area/bar also. Only criticism is the thinness of the walls and ceilings. Doesn't make well for a lye-in, THEN the church bells start. The only reason... Superb service. All staff very professional and friendly. Thought we might be offered a limited menu being on wowcher but no, delicious food from a varied menu. Delightful hotel full of character. Room 14 (radiator and lamps all working fine). Yes you could hear the neighbours but I have never stayed anywhere where you can't! Loved it... would definitely stay... More
