Booked through Travelzoo - a two night deal. Nice room on first floor - but if you want a room with a view ask for ground floor. Service in the restaurant on Sunday night was appalling - long wait for orders to be taken, main courses arrived and then the vegetables arrived 10 minutes later, wrong vegetables were served. Other... More

Thank you for taking the time for reviewing our Hotel. Although I must say a two star rating for one nights’ service is a very unfair rating towards the Hotel and Staff , they all work hard to ensure you have a lovely stay with us. Our Restaurant Manager is currently on paternity leave and their cover staff were on... More

Visited on 15th to 17th August for an anniversary break using a Travel Zoo voucher (copy attached). The hotel looks good both outside & in with it being clean & well maintained. We were given room 1, which was very good, with the exception of the shower draining issue mentioned in Lynn B's review. Essentially as a wet room some... More

Stayed here in Room 1 July 26/27th and had a lovely two day stay. The room was a lovely size, and we had a wet room for the shower. Unfortunately we did have problems with the water draining away and reported this to the Hotel Staff. The evening meal was fabulous and our family also came to join us. The... More

We have just had our second night here and will be checking out in the morning. We've had a lovely short break, friendly & attentive staff, great food, a very comfortable room and great value for money. Cannot fault the food and drink offering. I wondered if Arthur, the Head Chef, was a celebrity chef that I hadn't heard of,... More

My partner and I stayed here on Friday and Saturday night on the TravelZoo deal. We stayed in Room 19 which was a decent size, clean and quiet. The food in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic, so good that we ate here again on the second night. Breakfast was also very good. The only downside was that the Hotel caters... More

The hotel was much better than we had anticipated with the discounted price. Room, communal areas, bar and restaurant were very clean and well maintained. Staff were very attentive and friendly, including the waitresses who had to use the stairs so many times. Ate in the restaurant both nights and meals were very good. Plenty of choice without incurring a... More

Charming room with all the trimmings of a 4* hotel including a ceiling fan (invaluable during warm weather), modern ensuite bathroom with huge walkin shower and lovely fluffy white towels. Clean, very comfortable bed with pristine bedding. Excellent evening meal (one of the best steaks I have had in a very long time), desserts to die for. Staff couldn't do... More

We checked in late Sunday pm and were told that as they only did Sunday roast dinners on Sundays we couldn't have the 3 course a la carte meal until day 2. This didn't bother us too much but we chose to eat elsewhere 1st evening as we didn't particularly fancy a roast dinner. The room was clean but very... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we respect all reviews and are continuously making improvements within the Hotel to improve our guests overall experience. We are disappointed that you were disappointed. However let me explain the economics of the Travel Zoo deal. The hotel only receives a fraction (circa 69% after fees) of the price, that... More

We had a lovely couple of nights in this part of the lake district. The hotel is old and charming and comfortable. We had an excellent 3 course dinner which was included in the price. I could not fault this meal. The staff were fantastic helpful and very friendly. Would recommend it
