The location on the main square is ideal, you seat outside and you see the village life. The reception is most of the time empty and you can tell they have been doing it for to long, no walking maps on loan, free local water on day 1 but not on day 2, rooms have not one painting or decoration,... In an attempt to say something about Hotel Alpina in Vals and the experience the residence procures, precision is imperative. Located in the heart of the old village of Vals, off the river, on the main square, surrounded by wooden houses, a fountain in the middle of the square, the architectural quality of the both minimalist and traditional hotel building... I am familiar with Vals, having spent a couple of days in different hotels during the last 10 years. This time we tried out the Alpina and were quite satisfied, though it will probably not be our choice next time we'll go again to Vals. The Alpina offers an excellent location (only 7 minutes on foot to the thermal baths)... More

We went to Vals for the Therme, but chose this hotel as we thought it to be better value for money than the Hotel Therme. This indeed turned out to be the case. Perhaps in response to the popular Zumthor-desgned spa, Alpina Hotel also stresses its interest in architecture and design. There are several books and periodicals on architecture available... More

We had gps issues getting to Vals from Ronchamp and wound up arriving there 3hrs late. Which meant we missed our massage and entry to the Therme Vals booking that we'd made months ago. By this time we were somewhat frazzled and the lovely woman behind the desk rebooked these things for us for the next day and I don't... More

We stayed at Hotel Alpina following an extended stay in Vals. We had been staying at the Therme but due to the short notice of our stay, the Therme was fully booked so we were recommended the Hotel Alpina. The hotel notified us that the room would be small however it was very warm, clean, comfortable and functionable and just... More

My wife and I spent five days in Vals and we stayed at the Hotel Alpina as advised by a friend. The hotel is a great value-for-money place. They can also get you discounted tickets to the Vals Therme! Our room was very comfy and well designed, but we already expected that... What it was a surprise for us was... More

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Alpina and enjoyed it very much. I am an architect and we went to Vals to see the baths. We decided to stay at the Hotel Alpina for the lower cost rooms than the Therme Hotel, but knowing what I know now I would choose to stay there again. When we checked... More

Do not miss the Therme Vals when visiting central Switzerland. Based upon reviews we read on this website, we decided not to choose for the Therme Hotel, but the Alpina. Since prices in Vals are high anyway, we decided to go for the most expensive renovated rooms, designed by Architekt Gion A. Caminada which are CHF 110 per person per... More

We love Vals. Even if it's several hours away from home, the beautiful thermal baths will still drive us there for a week-end. And what better place to stay there than the beautiful Alpina? If you're looking for kitschy chalet-style accommodation, you will be disappointed. If however contemporary architecture with a touch of Alpenchic is more your style, this is... More
