The lodging is amazingly beautiful and the attachment of owner to details very impressive. The owner was also away under pouring rain yet he learnt from the previous review and helped us get in even if he was away. Breakfast taken in common around the large wooden table was delicious with a very extensive range of products including surprising home... More

Arrived to find owner would not be able to let us in for another 2hours, this was in pouring rain. He could have e_mailed to inform us as we had e_mailed him regarding dinner. We returned 2 hours later still locked finally he arrived another hour later, no apology, no help with bags, in torrential rain. The accommodation itself was... More

Once we put the coordinates provided on their website into our GPS, and stopped looking at the screen and saw the signs, we had no trouble finding Le ValOmbre. Beautiful B and B, quiet, comfortable and an outstanding breakfast. Because the owner was in charge of the major festival in St. Pierre de Chartrreuse, he was offering dinner but we... More

Host Jean Pierre is on hand with a warm welcome and prepares a most wonderful breakfast as well as making an excellent dinner too if needed (at 20 euros). Up to 10 guests sit at his long dining table encouraging companionship and conversation. Bedrooms are separated from... More

We stayed one night and were pleasantly surprised by this accommodation. The room is very nice and big and the bathroom is very modern and you have everything you need in it. The breakfast is very good as well, you can choose from different things and part is home made :)

The ratings and feedback already say it all for Le ValOmbre, great location in the Chartreuse national park (hikers most of year, skiers if your going to ski at St Pierre or snow shoe it around the wonderful mountain scenery. We stayed at this quaint b&b during a stop over through our trip of France, the owner was very friendly and the b&b very functional, the rooms were clean and despite being quite small were perfect for our short stay. The dinner set up was good, the food incredible and very good value. I would recommend this place to anyone... More

We had not visited the Chartreuse before but Le ValOmbre was easy to find and we were given a good welcome by Jean Pierre. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The place was peaceful and the other guests were very friendly. Conversation ensued in multiple languages. There was comfortable furniture in the lounge and in the garden. We made... More

We've not stayed in a B&B before so didn't know what to expect. No worries though - this place run by Jean-Pierre is fab. Lovely en-suite room with posh accessories and really good bed - best night's sleep in France. Bed sheets looked brand new too. Breakfast excellent - everything you'd expect and more - fresh cherries, home made preserves,... More

We loved this B&B. Our room was very well decorated, with lovely view and high speed internet. Jean Pierre was a good host and his breakfast came with homemade jams and good bread, served in a homely setting. We also took dinner cooked by Jean Pierre in a friendly atmosphere. The location is good for hiking and lots of information... More
