La Traverse is a real gem in a beautiful area of France. The hotel is absolutely lovely with a glorious garden to find a spot to sit and relax in. Neil and Melanie gave us such a friendly welcome we felt like we had 'come home'! Melanie's passion for preparing the freshest ingredients is very evident. Our meal was superb... More

Neil & Melanie are excellent hosts & our room was as comfy as usual. Stayed 5 times now and this was the first time with the new owners - but excellent. Dinner with 4 Aussies on a high speed trip of Europe was great fun! Best (slow cooked) beef hot pot for a long time - Melanie's cooking is very... More

Four Aussies travelling in France stopped for one night at La Traverse. We were absolutely delighted with the whole experience. Neil and Melanie were the most accommodating hosts by far - casual, friendly and caring. Although we only stayed for one night our strolls in the district, Neil's pleasant manner, Melanie's cooking, and the ambience of La Traverse is outstanding.

What a relaxing place, the owners have already become our firm friends and we've only met them since 5pm this evening ! This is a superb spot, a great retreat. Dinner a definite recommend, we enjoyed: aperitifs, soup, duck with roasties, cheese board and superb desserts, washed down with a lovely bottle of red wine. We hope to have just... More

We spent 2 nights at La Traverse on our way home from the South of France. The house and its surrounding garden is beautiful! Neil gave us a warm welcome on arrival. The rooms are very nicely decorated using a lot of white coloured furniture. Melanie serves honest and very tasteful meals: you get a 4-course menu, wine and aperitif... More

We stayed two night on recommendation of a friend whilst travelling south. It's great location being easy to find from autoroute but on arrival you soon feel tucked away in beautiful rural france.Neil and Melanie couldn't have been more welcoming and as all the reviews highlight they pay a lot of attention to detail to make your stay as comfortable... La Traverse is fully deserving of its 5* ratings here; the beautiful old house is full of charm and character and excellent cooking and hospitality is provided by Neil and Melanie. We were lucky enough to stay in the double aspect room at the front which has an extremely comfortable bed with excellent quality linen and lovely products. We thoroughly... More

We stayed two nights in La Traverse in April 2013. It was the perfect alternative to an impersonal hotel in the center of Limoges. It is five minutes off the A20 motorway so can be a great place to make an overnight stop when travelling South. Neil and Melanie are a friendly couple who run the place since September 2012... More

La Traverse is an attractive building set in lovely grounds. The rooms are a good size and very clean. I particularly liked the attention to detail - quality shampoos and conditioners in the spacious bathroom. We stayed at La Traverse for three nights and during our stay Melanie and Neil couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed beautifully... More
