We called in at the last minute hoping for a lunch reservation and luckily 2 places still available. Glencoe had organised a special Mothers Day Lunch. We were not disappointed. Quaint small dinning room seating 8 on this day but could seat 10 - 12. 3 course lunch for $65 pp. Tomato soup with seared scallops. Slow cooked lamb with... More

Beautiful garden - a very relaxing place to enjoy delicious food. Despite the rain, still a nice view from the porch. Charming service and good value. We enjoyed home made soup and very tasty french desserts. Over all a lovely time and would recommend to all.

I am so glad we decided to stay here instead of Cradle Mountain. Having lived in France I have a soft spot for all things French, especially French food. Glencoe did not disappoint. Little did I know when I booked that Remi is one of the best chefs in Tasmania, renown for his restaurant in Hobart. Make sure you book... More

We detoured to visit Glencoe for a lovely lunch, which was well worth it. The gardens are delightful and the cafe seating is outside under the trees, under the verandah or inside. It was great strolling around the gardens enjoying their many trees and plants. Whilst there we looked at the B & B rooms which are very French in... More

We stayed at Glencoe as a part of a road tour of Northern Tasmania. The location was good just a short drive from Sheffield where you can buy your winter clothing at Slaters. The grounds seem a little run down and in need of attention but inside the house was otherwise clean and tidy. Our room was well presented if... More

Driving to have a look at Sheffield we spied a sign saying "open for lunch French food" Down a little dirt road onto a farm property to a lovely cottage that had a cosy fire and smelled delicious! A warm welcome was given to us by our host and cook Ginette. The menu was simple fare belied its fantastic taste.... More

We decided to break our journey from Strahan at this lovely location on the Cradle Mountain road. We had an excellent dinner cooked by chef Remi with vegetables straight from the garden and home made sorbet. The house is a beautifully restored country Victorian farm house with 4 bedrooms and the ideal place for a group of friends to stay... More

The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated with a elegant French Provincial feel. Both rooms had an ensuite within the room. A guest lounge was provided with seating for 8 in 2 areas. A music system, firebox, soft lighting, and copious amounts of books and magizines made this room a lovely retreat. We ordered dinner for 4 people and were... More

Glencoe Retreat B&B in the Kentish Hills is simply delightful. Owned by Remi and Ginette Bancal, it was recommended by Tasmanian friends who had eaten there, but oddly not by the Kentish Visitor Information Centre at Sheffield. When we asked for details about Glencoe, the staff member at the Centre did her utmost to persuade us to stay somewhere else,... More

We were looking forward to staying at Glencoe for two nights but on leaving were quite disappointed. We were greeted by the host, Ginette and my first two requests were given a stern response. When I asked her if she could freeze our small ice brick she sighed and said she might be able to "squeeze it in" - a... More
