On our honeymoon, we stopped here for 2 nights to check out Monteverde and do some ziplining (which btw is super fun and we recommend going with Selvatura). It was so nice to be in a secluded, quiet spot and the farm was gorgeous. Units were clean and well-kept and the family who owns the farm are lovely hosts with... More

Terra Viva was a memorable and unique experience. My wife and kids wanted to stay here to be on a true working farm and we were not disappointed. We stayed for 5 days in the middle of a 2 week trip to Costa Rica and the accomodations were perfect. We were able to make some dinners in our kitchen, enjoyed... More

We stayed at Terra Viva as a school group with 15 6th graders for 3 days. It was the perfect setting--lush and tranquil with cows dotting the vibrant hillside. The kids loved the animals all around, petting cows, riding the pig, and feeding the baby calves. Gaudy and Federico are perfect hosts-so accommodating and attentive. The rooms were comfortable, nicely... More

We arrived from +30 C to a strong wind, misty rain and much cooler temperature causing us to quickly don fleeces. As we acclimatized, we were met by our beautiful, friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, English speaking hostess, Gaudy, who made us feel at home immediately. Our accommodations were, in their words, rustic, but very clean and well equipped. The breakfasts were... More

What a gem! I'm sure there are many wonderful places to stay in Monteverde, and I haven't been disappointed by any of them. But this one was certainly special. We were able to use the kitchen of our casita to prepare dinner one night; it was nice that enough dishes and utensils were provided for that. Of all the places... More

We enjoyed our stay at Terra Viva. Gaudy was the perfect hostess. Her wonderful breakfasts got us off to a great start each day. She also offered excellent recommendations for local sites and restaurants and made arrangements for our tours, including a rainy but wonderful horseback tour of their farm. We felt at home in our snug cabin and loved... More

Monteverde “Switzerland of Central America” Narrow road, green mountains and valleys. For my husband it was the most memorable moment of our trip. We where sleeping on the local farm Terra Finca. Rustic cottages on the farm land with a chalet where the farm lady was making a traditional breakfast for as. We had a fresh milk from there own... More

In a quiet setting surrounded by woods there are rustic cabins on a working dairy farm. The owners are a long time resident of Monteverde and a well known Costa Rican herpetologist. This is a farm not a hotel and from reading other reviews of the place, those expecting a hotel will be less happy than we do. It is... More

Terra Viva is a lovely spot, near the mountain town of Santa Elena and the two fabulous wildlife reserves of Monteverde and Santa Elena. We have stayed here twice! It's perfect for kids plenty of room to run around, hike up through the pastures to forested land, and to experience life on a dairy farm. Gaudy, owns and runs the... More

My family loved Terra Viva so much that we came back 2 winters in a row. Both times we stayed in the cabin by the farm. We all loved the farm setting: not necessarily what most people think of for Costa Rica but it really added diversity to the rest of the trip which was geared to exploring rain forest... More
