Friendly owner welcomed us. Seven rooms, with lounge/breakfast room. Simple breakfast - typically fresh fruit, eggs and baguette. Very clean. Five rooms overlook the Pacific, so get to see the sunset, but over the trees. 25-30 minutes walk from Santa Elena town centre, mostly downhill. Best to get taxi back ($3). Have to go into town for restaurants

The hotel is located away from the town proper. We've been told we could walk to town but we decided to call for a taxi - good decision because it's not an easy downhill path. The owner runs the place with help from his son and 1-2 gardeners/caretakers. It's quiet and there's a trail at the back of the hotel... More

The sunset view and the garden are fantastic. The hotel however is very, very poor. Reminds me of a hotel in former DDR. You can sleep and wash, that's it. The place is not clean, bathroom is a mess. Walk to the village is quite tough. Going back is up-hill. Can't understand the good rating.

My sister and I with three teens stayed here during peak Christmas season 2014 and was very happy with the accommodation that Mr Vitalis (owner) has given to us. It was a basic clean room with hot shower . The view was fantastic from our room . Quiet and and safe. Breakfast was okay. The hotel is 10 minutes taxi... More

A beautiful, quiet hotel. Vitalis, the owner, is a charming man and extremely welcoming. The garden is amazing, and as the name promises a wonderful view of the sunset. We will be back for a longer stay!

We visited this hotel in January 2015. The hotel has great views and the breakfast area is very cozy again with great views. The rooms are decent. The washrooms need some renovations. Especially the sink didnt have hot water which wasnt too much of an inconvenience but could be improved upon. The shower had hot water only. Overall i would... More

We stayed at the Sunset Hotel four nights in December and we had a great experience. The hotel was very well-indicated and easy to find. It is not near all the other hotels and restaurants but very close to the selvatura park (where all tourist attractions are). The host (Vitalis) was very welcoming, availble and eager to help us with... More

We stayed at the Sunset Hotel for 2 nights in December - the guy running it was really friendly, and had lots of local knowledge, he has lived there for over 50 years! He even let us buy a few beers from his personal stash at supermarket price. Yes the rooms are basic but it's still nice and the sunsets... More

Small family operated hotel that's obviously been around for some time. Room was clean and adequate although furnishings and decor were dark and dated. No air conditioning but none was needed. Owner Vitalis went to the trouble of ordering food and having it delivered by taxi after a later than expected arrival. He also prepared a pretty good breakfast and... More
