This place was soooo quaint and wonderful to stay at. Vitalis is the owner and helps you from everything to making your breakfast to booking day trips for you. You feel right at home and really get to know monteverde. The rooms are old fashioned and need a bit of an upgrade. No TV and no screens in the windows... More

The grounds of this hotel are so well maintained, the views are beautiful. It is within walking distance from restaurants/sodas/mini-markets and down-town Santa Elena. The hotel is small (4 or 5 rooms) so it is best to book ahead of time. The owner and staff are very friendly and they strive to make your stay the most comfortable. The hotel... More

I want to start this by saying I hate giving bad reviews. I really do. but y'all gotta know. I booked this hotel off Trip advisor reviews and it was the one sour note in the entire trip. The road to the hotel should have been a sign. its extremely bumpy and full of ruts, but a 4x4 can handle... More

we spent one night here and found the Sunset perfect for what we needed. I won't lie in that I prefer nicer hotels but in the middle of the rain/cloud forest in the mountains.. this is perfect. they pay much attention to the property, clean rooms, wonderful breakfast. Walls are pretty thin so you hear neighbors. Very nice and helpful... More

Travelling around Costa Rica with my 13 & 15 year old children can prove to be interesting as we're on a strict budget. We were in Playa del Coco and decided to take a trip to Monteverde. Everyone told us that we should take a private bus for $50 each, but we decided to take the public bus and enjoyed... More

Lucky for us, when we were in Monteverde, we stopped at the ranger station and made some inquires. The ranger connected us with this property - calling the owner to see if he had room, etc. "Yes, send them down"..... When we arrived, we were greeted by a young lady who gave us the option of what room we wanted... More

Vitalis, the owner makes you feel at home. This is my third trip to Monteverde and second time at the Sunset. It is on the way from town to Selvetura so that is convenient if you have a car. The breakfast is nice. And you have great views of the Nicoya peninsula and gulf. The rooms are not fancy but... More

The tourism office at Santa Helena recommended this hotel , it was perfect location 20mn from the Santa Helena Park (by car). It is a beautiful small hotel , style is like chalet, beautiful landscape in front and a trail behind the hotel, and great views . it was a clear day and we saw the Bay also The rooms... More

The family that owns the place are super friendly. And they make your free breakfast right there, that consists of 2 eggs, bread, fruit, and jelly. It was very good. But the room itself is extremely simple. Pretty much a bed, and a bathroom. So if that's all you're looking for then this is the place. They don't provide soap... More
