My son who is in peace corp in Costa Rica booked this place. We were very specific about two rooms each with two double beds. Called in advance twice. Got there and they could not find our reservation . Put my three adult kids in cabin down the road and first night we got the smallest room I have ever... More

Basic hotel with good location in Monteverde. I had a problem with my reservations because they wanted to lodge me in a different hotel! I had stress at the front desk until the manager came to take steps to accommodate me and my friends in the hotel which, it seems, does not have a good reservation system. However, the attendants... Stayed 3 nights. They actually relocated us to the "annex", which was really a totally different hotel (Hotel Santa Fe). That hotel was actually decent, with WiFi in room (though spotty), parking, a location closer to the city center, etc. - too bad we weren't paying them! These guys at Hotel Los Jardines made us wait around to "find keys",... More

Made reservations for 4 but the overbooked and put us in a room for 2 and brought in and assembled by hand a bunk bed. Toilet inoperative. Kids found an eyelash viper (highly venomous) in the garden near the breakfast area where trash and presumably small mice/prey for the snake hang out. Cracks in walls where wind and spiders leak... The location is on a dirt road, it is a good distance from town, we paid about $3-4 each way by taxi to get to town. We had reserved two bedrooms, one downstairs and the other upstairs. The one downstairs looked very dingy and smelled musty with a queen size bed. The room upstairs had 2 queen beds and a... More

My final room, after three changes, was located in the front entry and so loud that you could not hear the TV. There were cracks in the walls/floors/doors/windows, which allowed local insects in the rooms. My room had spiders in the bed and the bottom part of the bed was filled with sand. When the hot water was turned on... More

It looks like someone's house converted to a hotel. We were made to stay in the outside room, with thin walls and a very small window. This was a far cry from "mountain views" and wooden floors promised in the confirmation email we had received. Staff did not offer any help with luggage. Honestly, we stayed here solely coz we... This was a walk in accommodation for us. We were shown a room that was very rustic, but clean that suited our purpose. It was out of the way and quaint. Breakfast the first morning was adequate. We stayed three nights and the breakfast and cleaning went from adequate to seriously lacking. The last morning we were told that we... More

Very nice and friendly place, the rooms are big and finished with wood all over the surfaces, maybe slightly old style but more than acceptable for the competitive price. There's also a very cheap laundry service which can be very useful after a trekking day.

This hotel has a bit of everything. Different sized rooms, suites and cabins. Some of the rooms are simple and small but still charming. There are larger rooms that are suites and are very comfortable and would be a great place to post up if you want to spread out a bit. Then they even have at least a few... More
