This place totally lives up to its rankings! Clean, comfortable and a short walk from the main part of town. Rolf was unbelievably helpful! He set up up with some great deals and also helped us sort out a mix up with our transportation provider, who "forgot" to pick us up. Because of him, we managed to make our scheduled... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here the nights of 11 and 12 January. Yep, I get why this place is ranked #1 in the region. As others have said, it felt like we were staying at a friend's house. We stayed in the lower room which was nicely outfitted and had some extra touches that I wasn't necessarily expecting, like... More

My partner and I had a great experience at Rainbow Valley Lodge! The room is clean, and has a great view of the forest. Coati came right to our door and we fed them bananas. Rolf (the owner) was extremely helpful and even got us some discounts on local restaurants and attractions. Really enjoyed our stay here. More

The lodge offers a terrific location overlooking a valley filled with rainbows (literally) and monkeys. Rolf was an amazing host, helping arrange park and canopy tours for us even before we arrived. A truly unexpected amount of hospitality for the price! Next time we visit though I'd probably choose to stay in one of the rooms with an extra bed,... More

We stay here in November. What a great lodge. Waking up to monkeys looking at you as if you are in the zoo not them was just wonderful. Rolf couldn't have been more helpful. Expecially when our car had some mechanical difficultys. Rolf was kind enough to stay around waiting for the mechanic while we went on to explore the... More

We stayed at Rainbow Valley Lodge for three nights during our Monteverde leg of our CR vacation... it was the place I felt most at home during our trip (I'm a mountain man, my wife is more of a beach girl). Rolf was an amazing host, he's the kind of guy that makes you feel like you've known him your... More

Monteverde was our first stop after we landed in San Jose. We chose Rainbow Valley Lodge based on tripadvisor reviews, oh that was such a wise decision! When we arrived the lodge, we got welcomed by a troupe of white faced monkeys!! What a nice start of our 4-day stay! We took the cabin, which is very clean, nicely decorated,... More

My husband and I landed in San Jose on November 13th, 2011. The Rainbow Valley Lodge was our fist stop. Thanks to Rolf's detailed directions, we arrived there without any problems. The Lodge far exceeded our expectations. We took the cabin which has a full kitchen, it was clean, lovely, homey and comfortable. Rolf provides a flat screen TV and... More

For the second time we have stayed at Rainbow Valley Lodge, this time in newly built cabin. Spacious, very nice, large living area with dining and kitchen, separate bedroom with own bathroom. Nice sitting area outside for some wildlife and birding. Rolf was as helpful as ever ... he really makes this place to be as good as it is... More

Rolf was great and the rooms were very clean. It was a great location as it was close to town but backed up to the rainforest. You get a nice sense of privacy. We had visits from some friendly coaties. This made for an overall great stay in Monteverde. More
