My wife and I stayed here as part of a Kuoni tour. Let me begin by saying that this Lodge is very well situated. It sits on a hill on the outskirts of Santa Elena. It has its own grounds with a number of walks around them. My wife and I attempted the river walk and saw a variety of... more

This hotel was pre-arranged for me as part of a tour package. I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. It exists in a very calm and peaceful setting, and almost everyone has noted how this all makes for a great stay. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and informative. It is out of the way,... more

We found this hotel by chance, as we were driving around Santa Elena. We had been staying at another hotel in-town, but were hoping to find something quieter amidst the cloud forest...And this was just right. This lodge is just outside the town of Santa Elena It is quiet, the staff very polite, and our room was clean. Yes, the... more

We had two days here at the end of an 8 day tour of Costa Rica - it was our fourth lodge and I thought it very charming indeed. It is simple and no frills - accomodation is in wooden huts which while relatively basic are roomy and comfortableand the bathroom was large with a good sized shower. Everywhere was... more

We had our own lodge with a cute little porch in front. The lodge was surprisingly roomy with a large bed. The bathroom was fairly roomy as well! There was lots of space for us to put our things down. There are also several hiking paths around the area that you can venture off into. In addition, there is a... more

This is the first place we stayed that hadn't been recommended by a friend. We were pleasantly surprised. After the long and breathtaking drive from San Jose we were greeted by a wonderful staff and shown to our room/cabin. The rooms are huge, as was the bed. The bathroom was surprisingly huge and impeccably clean. There is no heat in... more

The Cloud Forest Lodge is very rustic. You have to take about a mile long ride up to the Lodge from Santa Elena and the road is very rough. It is ok to walk down to the town, I didn't want to hike back up, but you could, just know that it is tough. Fortunately, it is a cheap cab... more

Aftter you've made the torturous drive on a dirt road riddled with potholes and ruts to reach Monteverde, Cloud Forest Lodge is a fine place to rest and unwind. The lodge is on 70 acres of primary and secondary forest near the end of a steep, rutted dirt road. Though it's bumpy to get to, you are amply rewarded with... more

We stayed here in Aug 2008 as part of a tour of Costa Rica. The lodge itself is basic with all the rooms being in the form of cabins which are very sparse and not the most conforable. There is a small bar and restaurant where the food was OK but apart from that nothing else. What makes up for... more

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in April 2007. We had a wonderful stay. Wilbert and his staff were friendly and most welcoming. The tours arranged from the Lodge were the best I have been on (my fifth visit to Monteverde) . The roof was a bit noisy (didn't bother me, but my wife noticed it), but... more
