The room was clean, and it is a budget hotel. We were in a group and got a much poorer room than our travel companions. This could have been the agent's fault, but it was full and there was nothing that could be done to improve our 3 nights there. Unfortunately this meant that we did not sleep well, and I... More

El Viandante Lodge is a good base for activities in Monteverde and Santa Elena. The place is run by an Italian man and his American wife. They do a fine job. The breakfast is delicious – home made by the man of the house. The breakfast room is beautiful! The tables and chairs are rough honed from local woods and... More

I think this is a good choice for budget travelers in Monteverde. Monteverde in pretty rustic so don't expected refrigerators in the room and lots of amenities. Everything stated on the board here is true. Grace in particular is fantastic. Very friendly and always with a smile. She was really helpful in planning our days in Monteverde. The hotel was... More

Walking distance to everything. I prefer not to walk so we took taxi. Renzo the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Renzo took us to nature walk in AM for FREE. Breakfast was delicious. Would def. come back.

Visited in early March. Grace and her husband both were exceptional in helping to facilitate arrangements to help us make the most of our visit, which we appreciated. They are both fluent in English (Grace has lived in the U.S.), so that really helped with the communication. This was all much appreciated. Overall, these are modest accommodations but they are... My wife and I stayed here for two nights in March 2014. Renzo & Grace, the owners, were uber hospitable and helped with suggestions on what to do etc. As other reviewers have said, there is a steep climb back from town (which by the way, is quite tiny), but if you just take your time and go slow, you'll... Nice and frendly people, home-made breakfest was really good and tasty. Walk to the city just 10 minutes, but the way back is much more worse - really steep hill is behind you :) Rooms quite big and i can recommend the stay.

We booked this hotel due to reviews on TA. I was pleasantly surprised by the look of the hotel. It looks better than in photos. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Check in was smooth. I think it is off season just now because we got a huge quad room for two of us. It is one floor up... More

Comfortable hotel especially the beds. Very good internet, hot water and breakfast. Hotel is run by a great couple that provide help and assistance with anything in Monteverde. I would only suggest maybe a communal fridge for the guests.
