Poco a Poco is closer to a Motel 6 with nice architecture, not the luxury hotel that they purport to be. In the name of being green there was one light bulb of very low wattage so we could barely see inside our room. The whole thing was fine and clean, just very basic and not what we were expecting.... more

This was a package deal through Gate 1 Travel. POSITIVES: The hotel was nice, clean, and eco friendly (the hot water was only on from 4:30 to 9:30 AM and 4:30-9:30 PM). The location in town was convenient for all the attractions. The front desk staff was very helpful and attentive. The restaurant had a good breakfast. NEGATIVES THE HOTEL... more

The restaurant was excellent and the staff was very friendly. There was a bit of construction that took away a bit from the beauty, but the location is close enough to walk to Santa Elena without being close enough to hear the night life. more

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our tour round Costa Rica with 14 others. It was one of the best stops for us out of the whole trip. The staff make the place, with helpful desk staff, bar staff and waiters and the food was excellent and good value for money. The room was basic but clean... more

read the fantastic hotel website and the promises of luxury but was underwhelmed. they were doing construction work which started ealy, finished late and put the pool effectively out of access which is a shamed as it looked quite nice. Hotel quite expensive and kind of between places rather than close to anywhere. Looks like a new building, whereby was... more

According to their website, Poco a Poco is a luxury hotel. What it is is bare-bones (bed, small end-table, TV--no chairs or anywhere to sit other than the beds). And the beds were disgusting. Our sheets were dirty--to the point that you could pick up black pieces of dirt from the sheets! We went to the front desk to ask... more

I am glad to finally have found a place where to alert people about this hotel. Sorry to say because they are Costaricans like me, but my experience was terrible. Literally traumatizing. I am even amazed that somebody said befoe that the hotel is "handicap-friendly": I arrived with my husband and baby and they made us go up bad quality... more

We ended up here as a result of poor planning I suppose but what a great little hotel! After finding cockroaches in the beds at Quetzal Inn we made our way to Hotel Poco a Poco who were understanding, courteous and very helpful. The staff spoke wonderful english, were extremely helpful setting up excursions and transport and even calling and... more

We booked for 2 nights at this hotel, but decided to come a day earlier. Sent an email to them, but got no response, not sure if they got the email or decided not to respond as the hotel was full already. We however got a very friendly reception when we got back on the day of our booking. They... more

Such a terrible woman and experience: I made a reservation requesting two rooms with two double beds on January 9th. 2008 arriving at this hotel March 1st. 2008. Until now i am glad i saved those emails with the booking confirmation and also i had to call the hotel more than a couple of times from the U.S. to reconfirm... more
