Nancy and Kevin were great! This is the most relaxing place I´ve been in Costa Rica. At night the only sounds are the forest! Nancy welcomed me at the door. I arrived at 5pm and was thrilled to find out that they were hosting an evening meal. $7 all you can eat (all homemade food thanks to Kevin). There were... more

This place was the best we stayed at in Costa Rica. Since there weren't too many people in the lodge when we got there, Kevin free upgraded our group of four to two rooms instead of a single room that we had booked. In the morning he would make us some coffee and cook some amazing food, most notably his... more

Some may have problems with allergies, but this is an amazing place for animal-lovers. The owners are conscientious and kind, and their kids are wonderful. Kevin made us excellent breakfasts (make sure to try his banana pancakes and spiced breakfast potatoes). They were always around to help us figure out what to do next, and made recommendations and arrangements for... more

We had a horrible time at a loud B&B and moved to the La Colina lodge for some quite and that's what we found... for the first night. Cindy, the front desk manager/room cleaner/cook/ receptionist/trip planner was/is AMAZING. the second night the owner arrived from California. He is a piece of work. Besides chain smoking in the main room/dining room/TV... more

Well, I must admit that I was upset to come home from my vacation after a long and exhausting flight to discover that my neighbor had constructed a hideous seven foot high dumpster right in front of my hotel balcony. Try to picture a Toucan sitting on a dumpster. So I did have a few spirited words with the neighbor...

I've stayed at the Marriott in Times Square and I've stayed in a tent at the Black Sea. What I learnt to love about a place in the end is its atmosphere. As long as it has the commodities - clean, warm, hot water, clean bed, LARGE breakfast. And we found each and every one of the them at La... more

My 3 night stay at La Colina Lodge was the best of my entire months expedition to Costa Rica, and this is why: I'll be honest, the rooms are a bit rough (even though a lot better than anywhere else we had stayed), but this only adds to the experience of being in Central America. Either way, I found this... more

The owner, Kevin, is very friendly and an excellent cook. The rooms are very comfortable and there are warm showers, which is nice because the weather there is quite cold. Overall a really nice place to stay. more

I stayed in this hotel as part of a group of 21 people on a world challenge expdition this sumer. After staying in several, not great hotels, this place was excellent. The rooms were clean and roomy, while the hot showerss were marvelous. The best thing about this hotel was the food the owner kevin cooked for us. Being on... more

Kevin makes a mean American style breakfast! The conversation was great too. The Monteverde national park is just a 20 minute hike up the road, fantastic location. The thing we most enjoyed was the beautiful view out the back of the lodge that looks out across the mountain tops down to the Pacific Ocean. more

This lodge is right in Monteverde, close to everything! We walked to most places. Everyone working at the Lodge made us feel at home. They were very informative, friendly and accommodating. We loved eating the good food at the large dining area with beautifully painted chairs and tables by the owner's wife. We watched the humming birds from the windows... more
