If you are going to Costa Rica for the hotels, you may want to keep looking. But if you're going for the experience of Costa Rica, this is a good choice! It is a bit rustic, no washcloths, only one bath towel per person, no TV or air conditioning, but the grounds are beautiful. We had a rainy couple of... More

Our tour group was to have been booked at the Trapp Family Lodge. However, our tour operator fell victim to a scam website that preyed on that exceptional facility, leaving our group with only one hotel choice at Montverde. It was awful. Some of the rooms had no electricity which meant there was no water either. The hotel got that... More

Stayed here last week and cut our stay short. Room was pieced together with boards and two by fours, no glasses, no wash clothes, no chair in the room. Had to ask for light bulbs, glasses, hangers (we received three). We had a King bed and the bedding was too small so after an hour in bed the bottom sheet... More

Me and my girlfriend went there in February. Monteverde is nice but not the hotel. Rooms should be repainted and It is very dark inside. The toilet is purple. Windows are broken and it was impossible to close them completely (so it was noisely and cold). The hotel is located far from the city (hard to go there by walk)... More

Arrive and checked in, their crib is broken so we have to sleep with our 2 year old. The room gets really cool at night and we took the blankets off the other bed to stay warm. There was no phone, coffee maker or even a clock. So each morning you could buy a cup of coffee for 2$ US.... More

I can't say how the prices compare to other places. The location is great in that it is close to the park entrance. The rooms are really rustic, it's not the cleanest place if that is important to you. The staff are really great, helpful and friendly.

At the end of May, beginning of June we had about 15 students and 9 adults go on a trip and stayed at this hotel for a couple of days. The staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating. It was amazing that some of the staff were bilingual, since I don't speak Spanish and they were trying to teach me... More

The rates were considerably lower than the nearby hotels, BUT the rooms are unheated in the cold winter and they had only 1 light bulb high in the ceiling. February temperatures at this high altitude are in the high 50's during the night. In the daytime things warm up quickly. There is no TV, desk or side chair in the... More

We stayed here for two nights and it was simply amazing. the room was comfortable and clean, the shower great. We got even warm covers for the bed as it was very windy and we needed them. The service of Nils was just outstanding. He doesn't want to gain any money by recommendations for trips - he explained us the... More

I recently stayed here with a large group (40+) and was impressed with the service all the staff provided! With a group that size, it can be hard to keep everyone happy, but everyone had a wonderful time - from getting coffee for parents ready early in the morning, making sure Wi-Fi was working even after a recent thunderstorm, right...
