My husband and I stayed here 4 nights in late May. Our first night was great as we didn't have neighbours but after the second night a couple arrived very late and we could hear everything going on in the room. And I mean everything!! They were oblivious to the fact that they came back to the room after midnight... more

Finca Valverde is a smoothy run family business. This family is extremely professional and adorable as you will see 3 generations participating. This family is first class and so very welcoming. The cabins are simple, but clean. Each cabin has what you need with not too many frills. They are dotted a little uphill from the recpetion area in a... more

We loved the Finca Valverde in Santa Elena. Tucked into the jungle, quiet and beautiful yet within easy walking distance to town. Our room was basic, comfortable, and had to go over a short hanging bridge to reach our particular room (only a few rooms in this area, we loved it). grounds were beautiful with cabins scattered in lush, well... more

We just came back from our trip to Costa Rica. Monteverde is a great place and was one of the highlights of our entire trip. I was a bit disappointed with a hotel choice, however. The location is fabulous - it's literally in the middle of the jungle but the cabins are very basic. There were lots of bugs there... more

The receptionist was pretty disinterested on our arrival-which was a shame as it would have been lovely to have known a little more about this family-run hotel. All the other staff we met were very friendly and helpful. As mentioned previously the wood cabinas are basic, although pretty well laid out for families, with 3 seperate beds. Each unit has... more

We just got back from CR and had a lovely time. At Finca Valverde we had a junior cabin (#21) and it was the perfect size for 3 adults. Hot water was a bit tricky but totally worked. It was very private and was nestled in the trees and fauna. The grounds were very beautiful and well maintained. The folks... more

The cabins we stayed at were rustic, but comfortable. The bathrooms need renovation, the tubs were possibly from the 50s'. Very peaceful place, in the middle of a selvatic area, with a path behind the cabin that can be walked all the way to the front desk, listening to the birds and hollering monkeys. The restaurant was modest but teh... more

I loved this little hotel! While it is by no means a resort, and there were only a few other people staying there when I visited in April, I loved the small town, friendly feel of this place. It is a little ways up a gravel road off one of the main roads in Santa Elena, so it's far enough... more

Nice wood built casita's, each with two rooms. Placed in forest area where monkeys and other wildlife travel through a couple of times per day. There is also a larger building with some more rooms. Mostly used for tour groups. The hotel staff said they intend to build 20 more casita's in 2008. Good restaurant, however with high ceiling setting... more

First Recommendation: I am a tuff grader! And, I highly recommend you eat at the ‘on-site’ restaurant. We found the prices for the food very reasonable. Especially considering the quality and quantity served. We did eat in town, it was fine, and the food good for the price charged. However, we found no restaurant during our 8-day trip around Costa... more
