Frederico from Monteverde Lodge & Gardens saved our trip! Here's the story: My fiance & I were planning to stay at another lodge in Monteverde for the night, but we frantically left our accommodation at 10:00 p.m. due to my ridiculous fear of bugs and the large number of insects we saw (10+ cockroaches, spiders, multi-legged insects, etc) . We... more

This placed felt like Costa Rica. It was very authentic and we didn't feel like tourists here. We were very comfortable. The room didn't have an air conditioner but that was okay they provided a fan. The nights are pretty cool in Monteverde. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The view of the gardens from our room... more

We spent 3 nights at the Monteverde Lodge. The Lodge looks a little dated on the outside, but the room was very nice. The view from our room was excellent, framed by large bay windows. Since the lodge is located near a forest, we expected to see some bugs in the room, but after 2 small spiders were escorted out... more

We loved Monteverde Lodge even though we had booked three days and ended up leaving after two. We left because because we felt like we had done all of the activies that we wanted to do and didnt want to waste a day of our trip. We did the Monteverde Rainforest Tour, a night tour, Canopy tour, and spent time... more

The location of the hotel is fine. The grounds are nice. The rooms are basic (with a million light switches for some reason). No tv which was great. There is a cute little corner in each room to sit and view the birds outside. There are a lot of dead and live bugs around the hotel. No complaints - just... more

The Monteverde Spa and Gardens is a beautiful sanctuary that my family and I enjoyed for a few days while vacationing in Costa Rica. The road to Monteverde from San Jose is long, but our transport driver made the trip very pleasant for us. The countryside is breathtaking, and the hotel's huge picture windows provides a great opportunity for birdwatchers/nature... more

We travelled in the middle of May 09 to Costa Rica through Journey Latin America, who organised our trip through Costa Rica Expeditions (CRE). We enjoyed every minute of our holiday, and found CRE to be a very professional and knowlegable company, with an excellent team, who were punctual, efficient, extremely warm and friendly, and extremly knowlegable and passionate about... more

The location was good, staff was fine and rooms were clean, but I have to say I felt like I was in a creepy movie set in 1972 - our room had pink walls and the bathroom had a window to the hallway where anyone could have easily opened, basically the decor hadn't been updated since the 70's. For the... more

Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is what it claims to be - a comfortable outpost in the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest. Don't come here expecting luxury or basic amenities (hair dryer, TV, air conditioning) - this is a basic, bare minimum establishment with ecofriendly intentions. My girlfriend and I spent two nights here in an effort to explore the... more
