The service was excellent. Lee Marvin welcomed us with drink when we checked in and remembered our names and room number ever time we were in the restaurant/bar. The breakfast was included with our room and it was good. The food at the restaurant was good if a bit pricey. The grounds are beautiful as was the view from our... more

Spent 2 nights there with 14 teenagers who are accustomed to traveling in style. We all thought the rooms were gorgeous and the bathrooms were as well. The only downfall was when everyone hit the showers at once we ran out of hot water and then water completely was out for awhile. The shuttle was always available and most of... more

this hotel had no air conditioning - which you may need in the afternoon - no clock, no television for the week we were there, no hot water, no shampoo or conditioner, no washclothes, two towels for four people, no shower door in the bathroom, dirty bed linens, no coffee pot, no pool, broken jacuzzis, no internet, no room service... more

We stayed in a family suite with a king bed and 2 twins in a loft. The room was stunning as we entered...2 story high ceilings, loft, entirely wood paneled walls and ceilings, beautiful wood detail on loft rail, natural rock accents. If we didn't have a car, I'm sure we would have quickly tired of the long uphill walk... more

If you plan to stay at the Heleconia I would recommend the upper units for the panoramic view - it really is spectacular and we enjoyed some time on the balcony taking it all in. On a clear day you can see the Gulf de Nicoya. The rooms are spacious and clean and for the most part the shuttle was... more

This hotel is in need of some upgrading. Our room was a decent size, very big comfortable beds but the room was decidedly drafty and cold, badly lit and the bathroom needed to be replaced. Staff were okay, but the overall feel of the place was rundown. Breakfast were okay, as was the restaurant. However there are better restaurants nearby,... more

While this hotel had some charm, I doubt I'd stay again. We were in a room on the very top, which was a 20 minute hike straight up a mountain. The breakfast, not included, was awful and over priced. Most annoying, however, was that we were totally ripped off by the travel desk--"Flora and Fauna." They assured us that we'd... more

MONTEVERDE AREA: We chose Monteverde for part of our honeymoon as I'd heard it was beautiful, and it did not disappoint. We did the zip lines at sky trek which has the longest and highest lines in the area, and it was fantastic; we also hiked through the national park which was truly spectacular, and very different than the forests... more

We spent 2 nights each at 4 different hotels throughout Costa Rica and loved them all EXCEPT this one. We had room 302 in one of the older buildings half way up the hill. It was what they call a Master Suite that has 2 king beds and a queen up in a loft. We went with our 3 kids... more
