Our room had a great view for watching the sunset. There are quite a few steps at this hotel, but they do have a shuttle to take you up the hill. Many small wild animals to see at night. Wi-Fi service is iffy unless you go to the reception area or restaurant.

Nice rooms. Hotel staff very friendly. They neglect to mention that the room was a 40 metre up hill hike. Even though you can park your car up there it was still a drag going to breakfast. Whirlpools that make it look so attractive were empty and didn't look like they had been used in a long time. Restraunt was... More

We spent a couple of nights at this hotel whilst exploring the Monteverde area. We were warmly welcomed by the "endemic" (her own words!) Lucretia, and driven up to our accommodation above the main hotel. A wonderful view. We had been given an upgrade to a family room, which was on 2 levels; upstairs were 2 large single beds, on... My boyfriend and I visited Costa Rica for 7 days last week. We started out by flying into San Jose and from there we made our way to the Arenal Volcano and then to Monteverde for some zip-lining and adventure activities. We originally had a different hotel booked for this arrival but we waited a day too long and our... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and found it all quite bizarre, our chalet was at the top of a hill and you really had to be quite fit getting up and down. The rooms were without heating and it was quite chilly, I got stuck in the shower and had to shout for my husband to get me out,... More

We dreaded this place and while the room was slightly better than expected the overall experience was poor rather than catastrophic. The rooms are ‘Tyrollean chalets’ stripped to the bone - absolutely minimal facilities, threadbare towels and no heating. This place gets seriously cold at night and fortunately the beds did have blankets and a thick duvet. And the shower... More

I was travelling solo in a Group, I got the worst room in the Group. The room was not ready at 3 p.m. The mattress and the bed did not fit together, and it was lots of dust in the bed which I believe was "homemade". It was only one bulb from the ceiling because the lamp did not work.... More

The rooms are spacious, and comfortable. There was a smell to our room that we couldn't place that turned out to be from the hydrangea flowers they used as welcoming display. The staff is accommodating, and repairs were in full swing. The restaurant was decent but there are many choices in town that we found were better food for the... More

The windows in the room didn't close all the way, letting in bugs and making the room cold. The walls are paper thin, and we could hear our neighbors talking all night. It kept us up. The spa they advertised does not function. The Wifi only works in the lobby. They said the WiFi would work in the rooms. I... More

If you possess the courage to endure driving on the bone-jarring, snail's-paced "road" to get to Monteverde, then this is a great place to stay. The chalet-style rooms are huge, the bathrooms are huge, the beds are huge, the tasty meals at the restaurant are huge, and the view on a clear day is huge. The thing is, you will... More
