At first glance it looks pretty clean and doable, the staff is pretty nice. But with all older buildings there are hidden things that pop up. For example there is no ventilation in the shower room. You can not even crack a window. This has caused mold. My boyfriend couldn't even be in the room, so if you are sensitive... More

I stayed there as part of an organized tour and enjoyed my stay. The main building is a bit out of the way and higher up so you can either get a little exercise and walk down to reception/breakfast area or just order a free shuttle. Very large rooms and because of the location the air felt unbelievably fresh! Breakfast... More

Our cabin was fine, clean and spacious, but at the top of a hill, so it really was a long climb when we didn't go by car. The staff were nice enough, but not exactly keen. Restaurant food and coffee rather awful. Dullest breakfast ever in Costa Rica - only two kinds of fruit in a country with such abundance?

Only stayed one night due to schedule. In serious need of updating but pretty much what you get in the Monte Verde area. Breakfast was a bit of a mess - so many Germans lined up for the buffet, when it opened it almost resulted in a stampede. Not the hotel's fault, but maybe start earlier (?). I wish I... More

We stayed here for two nights in the middle of our trip to Costa Rica. We tried to like it, but we were underwhelmed compared to the other four star accommodations booked for us by our agent. After reading other reviews, I am now pretty sure most our disappointment is with the agent on this one. The lobby and restaurant... More

Our group stayed here for two nights. I was a teacher traveling with a group of 24 teenagers for a school trip. It's a difficult location because the hotel is built up into the side of a hill. Trekking our suitcases up and down the hills were not easy. Even walking from the reception up to the rooms was enough... More

Poor customer service! We initially booked for 2 persons, 2 queen beds with hotel.com and was confirmed, 2 other friends decided to join us last minute. upon check in we were surprised that they gave us 1 queen and 1 single bed (which was different from the confirmed booking of 2 queens) and they wanted to charge us 50 extra... I stayed here for two nights with my 13 year old grandson. It doesn't look or feel like anything Costa Rican. We were at the top of a steep hill, giving us a nice view, but very inconvenient. The restaurant and wi-fi access were at the bottom of a large hill, and it wasn't a hike you'd want to take... More

After staying in European hotels, this one is spacious. Beds are large and comfortable as is bathroom. However, bathroom floor becomes quite slippery because shower is open, no shower curtain or enclosure. Didn't need AC, so didn't miss it. Ask for hair dryer at front desk. Shuttle provided if you don't want to hike the hill. I would stay here... More

My husband and I came here last minute for a enduro motor ross ride and were booked in this hotel by the organizers. Has great curb appeal, but would probably not stay again. Little overpriced. I've lived in Costa Rica for 10 years, so I may always be looking for the best deal as things are grossly overpriced here in... More
