After a couple of hours on the dirt road up the hill, I did not have high hopes for the hotel. However, once we hit the paved road, we found the hotel easily. We had an amazing view of the cloud forest, many rainbows, and a quick walk to a pond or the pool. The room was nice with a... More

Great staff who really want to make your stay easy. Ronnie was a great tour guide for the Monteverde Cloud Forest. They have a tour desk at the hotel but there is also an information point in town where there are more options available, although most companies offer the same thing. Unfortunately, we didn't see many animals at all which... More

Went with my girl friend for the weekend for our anniversary at El Establo. Incredible views from the room, food was delicious and the hotel staff is great ! Also a lot of things to do inside the hotel , like a great Cannopy , night walks trough forest trails and a nice spa for relaxing! totally recommended !

Awesome people, very nice room, great location. The staff was incredibly attentive! Super friendly. The room was awesome. Huge tub, big shower, two very big beds. Great view as well! We slept like babies with the soothing sounds of the wind blowing against the trees. Great resort!

We stayed for 2 nights at the El Establo. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the pool is amazing but that's about it. The room was big but there are no screens so our room was full of insects. The light in the room at night was very low. The breakfast was not great. Overall more like a... More

Sitting high up on the side of the hill, we had a beautiful room on the 500 level. The view opened out to see as far as the Pacific. Although the rooms were up high in the hill, my husband and I, along with a few other brave travellers, decided to walk up from the restaurant. It was a bit... More

We stayed way up near the top in the 800's section. The views from our rooms were breathtaking and well worth it. The rooms were large and nicely laid out but missing a couple of conveniences. There are no dressers or closets and wifi is very limited. Also, they have shuttles running up and down the mountain constantly which is... More

After 3+ hours of bumpy ride from Tilaran, we were glad we had finally arrived at El Establo. It was a property with many buildings built on the hill. 700 was way up. 800/900 were even higher but closed for now. Room had a simplistic feel, no drawer, no closet, a safe box with a key ($35 deposit) fixed to... More

Not very good. Orientation of hotel on mountain annoying as you need to use shuttles and feel isolated. Food average at best. No hot water on first night which was incredible! Staff were pleasant, internet coverage in hotel poor and where available did not work for two days. I wished I had spent more time researching property and stayed at... More

I hugely enjoyed my trip to Monteverde & my stay at El Establo. The room was huge & the views were incredible. The room/hotel is very modern looking & bed is very comfortable. There is no heating/cooling but it wasn't necessary since the walls are so thick that it is quite temperate. It is a little way out of town... More
