The buildings are many, up a steep hillside. Their shuttle runs often and is prompt when you call. Rooms are very nice - all with views of the bay and the ocean beyond. The restaurant is very busy - a big buffet with many people.

We stayed at the El Establo this past week and absolutely did not want to leave. This is one of those few hotels which can be a tourist destination in its own right! The property sits on a hilly area in the Monteverde region and offers uninterrupted views of the forest, the hills , as well as the Pacific. The... More

Very friendly staff. The rooms are way up a hill and a bit of a walk (we tried it one day and had to be rescued!) but the shuttles are good. No wifi in the room but we got a signal from the nearby restaurant. Amazing views & sunset over hills from the room and rocking chairs to enjoy the... More

Very nice view from the room and big room but apart from that very disappointed. Very bad acoustic in the room. No plugs to charge mobiles... no chairs but one, no ability to prepare coffee or tea in the room... not what you expect for a room cost more than 300$ per night.

We stayed here one night as part of a Monkey Tour. The only disappointment was that our guide chose to have us waste 2 hours eating lunch at a touristy restaurant when we could have arrived at this wonderful hotel 2 hours earlier. He also did not tell us that this hotel had a fantastic dinner buffet. He was more... More

The rooms at El Establo are very large and nice. Sleep quality was excellent, with comfortable beds and little or no room-to-room noise. The rooms at El Establo afford excellent views of Nicoya Bay and the Nicoya Peninsula in the distance. Sunset views are outstanding! The location, on a mountainside, necessitates a shuttle bus service from reception to your room,... More

Stayed here 2 nights and although this may be the best in the area there is much they can improve upon! The buildings with the rooms are spread out so far from each other and the amenities that you have to call for a shuttle to get anywhere on the hotel grounds- really! The rooms were nice but could never... More

We just finished an organized tour in Costa Rica and this was probably the most impressive accommodation that was included. The views of Golfo de Nicoya and the ocean are spectacular. The grounds are beautifully maintained. A cab ride to town is about $3-4 and the town is cute and has a bunch of shops, bars, and restaurants. Finally, the... More

Beautiful views from our and most rooms. Cannot easily walk around the grounds and must rely on hotel shuttle to go to the pool or reception. Pool area is very nice (outdoors, but under a canopy) and has gym equipment in the area.
