We stayed for 2 nights in the 400's complex on the third floor, where we enjoyed spectacular views of the ocean and a great sunset (whenever it wasn't cloudy or raining). Both restaurants were very good. We stayed at the honeymoon suite although I think there's no major difference with the standard rooms. What I really disliked about our room... More

We had a rental car, so our stay at this property is a little different from others simply because we could come/go without having to walk and/or call for a shuttle van. Additionally, if you are driving, pay attention to the GPS Coordinates and carry them with you. You well want to compare them to the "locations of interest" loaded... More

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. The grounds were well kept. The rooms were fantastic. The bathroom had a tub for a bubble bath and also a stand up shower with glass walls and stone flooring. There are two rocking chairs at the bottom of each bed that face a beautiful view for the mountains and a lake (I think it... More

While this hotel has the potential to be a 4+ star hotel it's missing the details and friendly employees to make it special. We stayed in the 400 building for 3 nights which is a good location for those that want to walk up to the pool or down to the lobby rather than wait for a shuttle. Throughout our... More

The rooms are huge and are built so that you have brilliant view, however food was just OK, staff weren't overly helpful or friendly. Didn't worry me too much as I didn't come to Costa Rica to see them but to see the rainforest.

We stayed here for 4 nights and overall the hotel is nice. Beautiful setting with nice views. Our room was in the 400 building and we had a spectacular view of the Nicoya Peninsula (when it wasn't foggy). The staff was friendly enough, the shuttle service was prompt and the Wifi worked in the lobby just fine (as long as... More

This hotel had great reviews, but a hotel starts with the people who run it. The front desk could have cared less if we were there. We are seniors and no one was there to even offer to take our bags. If you are on the second floor there is no elevator. We asked about WiFi and were told it... More

Several buildings of hotel rooms scattered up the mountain and although quite a steep climb to these, mini buses provided just a phone call away. The rooms are quite nice but the views are amazing. When we arrived, our hotel building was very peaceful until a coach of young Canadians arrived. They were all given rooms in our block and... More

We stayed here on our visit to Monteverde. We choose this hotel because of the good reviews on TA. We booked one of the big rooms. I think this hotel has been seriously overrated by other reviewers. NO AC in rooms, NO wifi in rooms. Very little attention to detail when they built this. No towel hangers in the bathroom,... More

We stayed for two nights at El Establo. Not unusual in September, it rained quite a bit and was pretty fogged in a lot of the time we were there. The rooms are fairly spread out but the staff provides transportation on demand to get around the extensive complex; one of the restaurants (Laggus) is about halfway up the steep... More
