We stayed for two nights in April 2015 and wished it was two weeks. You're literally on top of the world and the incredible staff makes you feel like you own it! The views are unparalleled, the food excellent, the grounds beautiful, and--it's worth repeating--the staff are just wonderful...friendly and helpful. The pounds you gain at the incredible and included... More

We checked in today and already have experienced unprofessional and unhelpful staff. It is disappointing as the town is cute with great eating places and charm. View from our room is great too. But the customer services leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I requested to get tea bags as am not a coffee drinker and I was told... More

This place has a series of buildings marching up the (steep) hill and overlooking the gulf of Nicoya some 50 or so km away. So getting from the restaurant (mediocre) at the bottom to one's room above (ours at the 600 level) required a strenuous walk/hike or a shuttle, which was prompt and convenient. But walking allows nature viewing. Two... More

Quite an odd hotel- the rooms are enormous (the bathroom alone was bigger than most London flats) but spartan and unloved e.g. there were just two wall lights in the windowless bathroom on one wall so the shower cubicle on the other side was totally in the dark, there's a lovely balcony but no furniture on it so you can't... We stayed in the 800 building on the 2nd Floor. The views are absolutely amazing and worth the stay alone just to see the sunset. You get a great view of the valley and can see the Gulf of Nicoya and beyond. The rooms are very nice, no a/c but I think this is unneeded in Monteverede as it stays... More

This hotel has the potential to be amazing. Wonderful view, fantastic trails... However I was let down by all the basics. no ac in the room, no coffee making facilities in the room, no information on the hotel, or services available in the room. To order room Service was just a case of remembering what I had seen on the... More

The hotel staff was very helpful with pre-arrival questions and at check in. We had our own car and were able to park by our unit but I could see how walking up or down to the 9 different units would be tough. The shuttle runs up and down so that is an option. But we could hear it all... More

We had a huge first floor room overlooking the grounds towards the bottom of the hill on which the hotel is built. We saw coati and several other animals in the grounds. It was a definite hike up to the tennis courts and swimming pool, although the hotel did provide transport from the top to the bottom. There was also... More

Out of two weeks of travel in Costa Rica, this was the area I liked the best. No wonder the Quakers chose this area. I loved hearing the history from one of the first settlers from Alabama. Many people have chosen to move here. I thought it was good exercise to climb down to the reception for Wi-Fi, even though... More

Beautiful, breath-taking view from our #700 building. The higher the number, the better the view. Each morning when we woke up, we were welcomed by singing birds planning their day and a rolling mist that my pictures failed to capture. Staff was very accommodating and may I say the breakfast, oh the breakfast was wonderfully typico. We had an early... More
