This hotel is truly special. We stayed here for two nights travelling from the coast to La Fortuna. We wanted to do the zip line in Monteverde and stayed here. The views and scenery were amazing and has a very European feel. The rooms were very big. Even though it was like a lodge, the atmosphere was conductive to relaxation.... More

This is interesting hotel with nice size clean rooms in the rain forest. The biggest problem is lack of air conditioner. It can be cold, it can be hot – but it always humid there. You have nether AC or heating – so you and all clothes always wet. The other problem is size of property. It is huge. You... More

we stayed here for two nights. There is a good shuttle service the hotel offers but we had our own car. It is pricey but the rooms had fantastic views. Our room (100-200) had a fantastic sunset view. Really gorgeous.the room is spacious. the resort itself is beautiful but their gourmet restaurant is not that good for vegetarians. Best part... More

We stayed at El Establo for two nights during our tour of Costa Rica. Our room in the 800 Building was huge with two queen beds, large desk area and a rocking chair. Awesome view of the area and out to the bay when the clouds allow. Beds are on platform without springs but the pillows were good. The bathroom... More

The VIEWS! Best, best sunsets! Very nice bathrooms with tub & separate shower. All temperature control in rooms is via windows. Great walk to town. Inexpensive taxis to get back. Super breakfast buffet. Nicely appointed rooms. Didn't find the bar, but others did! :)

Luxurious rooms. We were in the 800 building. Great view, gorgeous bathrooms. The facilities are very spread out. Shuttle service was good, breakfast buffet was fresh and tasty. Great banana bread. I had friends who enjoyed nature walk. I wish we could of stayed longer

The hotel is really nice, we stayed for one night and it had everything we needed. Great breakfast, nice and comfy room with hot tub and amazing mountain views. It takes 15min walking or $2 cab to get downtown where you can find a variety of restaurants.

Hotel is really nice! The grounds are spread about quit a bit but they offer a free shuttle around. Free Breakfast in the morning is always a plus! The only downs I would say is that there were a ton of bugs in our room and there is no air condtioning so the room was a bit damp. the views... More

High up in the mountains, surrounded by amazing plants, flowers and wild life. This is a beautiful area with an interesting history. The hotel was founded by American Quakers. It climbs up a steep hillside and they have mini buses that can run you up or down between the blocks of rooms and the restaurant. Rooms are large and very... More

The views from the hotel are fantastic if you can see them. Unfortunately if the mist or rain comes you can't always see. This hotel is set on a mountain so to get from top (where my room was!) to the bottom you have to call a shuttle bus. I waited a few minutes for this once and another time... More
