Very dingy and damp. Buggy and just there were 4 of us - one room was "ok", and the other room was horrible. The bed was all wet, and we had to change rooms. The next room was better until we removed the fitted sheet and found the mattress had worms all over it (yes worms!) It was a HUGE... more

We were scheduled to stay two nights at Hotel Belmar and left after the first night. Before making reservations for our trip to Monteverde, we researched hotels in the area. Hotel Belmar has a nice website and the pictures looked nice. To our dismay, the place is really very run down with an unknowledgeable staff. Our room was in the... more

Cool location, good view, sparse rooms, awesome hot tub in gazebo, nice grounds, decent restaurant, friendly staff will book zip line tours etc. While you can get around without one (tours groups will pick you up), we were glad we had a car in Monteverde. (Nothing to do with the hotel but be prepared for 1 hour of unpaved roads... more

This place was as lovely as the photos on it's web site. Comfortable beds, good showers, good breakfast. But just sitting and watching the hummingbirds, or soaking in the hot tub was a delight. I'd definitely go again. more

I had a great time at this hotel and i recommend it for anyone ho loves the cabin lodge feeling. If you arent too picky (and i see that lots of people here are...) this is a good choice. I only say that becuase it is a wood cabin and it feels like a wood cabin. The beds were fine,... more

We were glad we choose this place to stay 2 nights in Monteverde. I was with my husband and our 2 kids (3 and 5 yo) plus my best friend. We stayed in the Main building (room 33) and had plenty of space for the 5 of us. The location is perfect if you have a car, the view is... more

We stayed here for our first two nights in CR, and we thought it was great. We stayed in the 2nd chalet, not the main one. The rooms were decked out in beautiful wood, bed was comfy and we had a cute balcony overlooking the cloud forest. The bathroom was basic but clean. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was standard.... more

We were not impressed with this hotel at all. We paid over $100 for a room that did not feel clean, was noisy (we could hear music from the restaurant at 7am!), and the decor has got to go. Not sure why this written up in Lonely Planet case we did not like it at all, and there are no... more

My sister and I stayed here for a few days as part of a pre-arranged tour through Pacific Tradewinds. Although it wasn't the nicest place we stayed in during our trip, we were very satisfied with out stay there. The hotel is a little secluded and quiet with a great view of the cloud forest from our balcony. We didn't... more
