The Hotel Belmar was recommended to us in response to our inquiry as to places to have dinner in Monte Verde. It proved to be an excellent choice. We went for dinner and liked it so much that we returned for a second evening's meal. The food was well prepared and was well above the norm for Monte Verde. The... More

Our opinion may be somewhat skewed as we had the most spectacular room in Monteverde, the Sunrise Suite at Hotel Belmar. Let's start with our room and the view. Two of the 4 walls are panoramic glass and they look out onto the rainforest and all the way down to the Pacific Ocean. You will not find a more captivating... More

We stayed at the Hotel Belmar in November, 2014. The staff were very helpful, service was excellent. It gets top rating for community involvement, and sustainable practices. The grounds are lovely, and views superb. The dining area was beautiful, and the food was excellent, much of it grown on their own farm. We highly recommend it..

We were staying for two nights and stayed on the ground floor the first night and moved to the forest room in the other chalet the second night. Our first room was nice but you could hear the dining room chairs and walking day and night because it was above us and has wood floors. We were booked in that... More

We were so grateful to get off the bumpy road to Monteverde and be welcomed to the Belmar with a welcome drink and just in time for the 4 pm yoga class. Had a great stay. We loved the rooms in the main inn on the 2 nd floor with a wonderful patio to watch the sunset and a glass... More

Full disclosure: I have a friend who works at this place, and that's what brought me out. I was just expecting a nice "eco-friendly" hotel in the mountains. But I got so much more. This hotel seems to be constantly evolving along with a strong mandate of high-quality sustainability. The views are astounding, and the staff were polite and friendly... More

Great view! The problem is that we had just left Nayara in the Arenal area, which is extremely customer service oriented and beautiful, so it made Belmar, which is supposed to be tops in the area, look bad. Belmar is need of a face lift in all ways. The furniture in the dining room is faded and stained. The breakfast... More

A little touch of the Tyrol in the Cloudforest this hotel, with wood the predominant theme and a great sweeping verandah to take in the views of local birdlife, forest canopy and the distant Pacific Ocean. We really relaxed here and enjoyed walking the hotel's grounds (including a mini-wildlife trail), as well as the excellent restaurant (lots of beef, the... More

We loved the hotel and had the "Sunset" room which was superb. There were views across the cloud forest down to the Pacific were really quite stunning. The room also had a great private terrace with outdoor jacuzzi and the only disappointing aspect was the bugs that almost made the terrace unusable. At one stage a large swarm of small... More

We had a beautiful suite chalet deluxe canopy room with our own private jacuzzi , a porch and a terrace with lounge chairs and the most beautiful view. The shower had a glass wall (like from the shoulder up) that was very cool! They had a beautiful buffet breakfast including an omelet station, fresh fruit, yogurt etc The staff were... More
