On my fourth visit to Monteverde, one of my favorite spots in Costa Rica, I finally stumbled on a really great place to stay. Every aspect--with the exception of "iffy" wifi--is excellent. Thanks to United Airlines, my luggage arrived from the States 48 hours after I did, but the Belmar concierge staff went to unbelievable lengths to get me through,... More

After days of cloud and a very rough road from the Lake Arenal, we arrived to brilliant sun (enough to drive our musty clothes) and an incredible view across a valley to the Nicoya Gulf and Peninsula beyond. We sat on the balcony watching clouds zoom by and misty rain sparkle in the sunlight. The food is great, and watching... More

We stayed for 2 nights. Both nights we had dinner at the restaurant. The food was very good, and th service was also very good. Jasmine, the bartender from Montreal, was very friendly and personable. Our rooms were forest view, which was nice. I would have asked to be in the new building if I new about the ocean view... More

Splurge or not, this property is divine and a must stay! We only were here for one night and wish it had been longer. We booked two rooms, the Forest Room and the Forest Superior for the 5 of us. From the moment we walked into the main building each staff person went out of their way to greet us,... More

We had a great stay at the Belmar. The food and drinks were absolutely wonderful. The room was very clean and spacious and had a wonderful balcony and view. We arranged a night hike through the hotel and it was a highlight of the trip. Our guide, Jorge, was awesome. We saw a bunch of wildlife and he was very... More

The highlight of our stay in CR. A truly special place with the most delightful people. I cannot say enough about the team working at Belmar. They made our stay personal and always went above and beyond. We knew we were in a good place when we were given fresh juice at checkin and found roses and chocolates and notes... More

We stayed in a Forest room for 4 nights, it was total luxury. The hotel, the staff, the food and the rooms were all 5 star. The staff were always helpful and friendly, the food was AMAZING and what a sunset every night on a stunning bar/restaurant balcony. The juice bar /tea room offers quiet chilled out space to enjoy... A wonderful place in Monteverde that we only stayed on New Years Eve. A lovely room in the Chalet building with a balcony. Had a terrific dinner celebrating New Year's Eve with a celebration hosted by the hotel. A buffet dinner with roast pig costing only $20 brought guests and locals together to celebrate. What a special night it was... More

A perfect spot in Monteverde! Fantastic service- the staff could not have been more friendly, attentive, and helpful. The rooms (we had 2) were clean, spacious, with lovely toiletries. The restaurant free breakfast was abundant and happy hour watching the sunset was bliss! The only place I would stay at in the area- the rest of the hotels/resorts seemed far... More

We stayed at Belmar for one night during our honeymoon. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we stepped onto the hotel grounds. Staff was also helpful in setting up activities in Monteverde for us. We enjoyed Tico Time (the happy hour), dinner, and, perhaps the best meal we had there, breakfast! We recommend eating outside; during... More
