Being associated with the University of Georgia, the Ecolodge San Luis offers a solid introduction to the cloud forest near Monteverde. The campus includes a medicinal plants garden, good trails, and formally educated, personable naturalists to talk about this unique and stunningly beautiful ecology. The night walk was particularly enjoyable. The beds are quite comfortable, the facilities in good order,... More

I have taken student groups from my university to Costa Rica for 15 years. Over the years, I have taken the groups to a variety of field stations in different parts of Costa Rica. Ecolodge San Luis is by far the best educational experience, the naturalists are able to quickly share some insight into the ecology of the area and... More

Spent four nights here. Glad of them all. It's a fair distance from town but its own haven. Trails through the forests and lots of activities. Largely US staffed with young volunteers. Good activities ... feeding is cafeteria style and communal. No bar and nowhere really to hang out afterwards, groups of university students from the US the biggest contingents.... More

We travelled to Costa Rica for the first time to experience the cloud forest and its environment. Ecolodge San Luis was an ideal fit for our family and made our trip truly amazing. The cabin accommodated our family of 5 very comfortably, and the ease of having meals on site - tasty, healthy meals with lots of fruit and veggies,... More

This campus hotel has cabin-style rooms with a main building for communal dining and sitting. The rooms are very noisy due to wooden floors that make loud creeking sounds inside and on the shared outside porch. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything your neighbors do and say. Additionally, the rooms have bugs inside and the bedding... More

My husband, two adult daughters and I spent 3 nights at Ecolodge San Luis. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We spend our first 3 nights in the country on the Pacific Coast - at Coco Beach - and then drove over to the Ecolodge. From the moment we arrived, everyone was so friendly and... More

This is my second time staying at the UGA campus in Monteverde, we also visited at the same time of the year in 2013. The campus is operated by the University of Georgia, TX. It's a jungle research station where students come to learn, teach, or end their studies with a 6 month volunteer program. They have a few basic... More

My family including a toddler recently stayed at the Uga Costa Rica ecolodge. It was a fabulous experience. There are tons of things to do around the campus. The interns and the staff are very nice and informative. Our little one made many new friends here :). The grounds and rooms are neat and spacious. The tours they arrange are... More

I recently spent three nights at Ecolodge San Luis and it was a highlight of my trip to Costa Rica! It's a satellite campus of the University of Georgia where researchers, university students, and grad students come to study, learn, and teach. Not only did I have the opportunity to experience staying in the tropical jungle, but I also learned... More

I spent 4 nights here and found the experience both enjoyable and informative. It's unlike anywhere else I stayed in over 7 weeks in Costa Rica. The fees cover accommodation, food and numerous activities centred on informing visitors about the ecology of the area and the sustainable way in which the ecolodge and associated research/education facilities are managed. I must... More
