We stayed three nights at this family run hotel, located a 15 minute walk from downtown Santa Elena. It is clean, has plenty of hot water, good free coffee and tea all day long with homemade banana bread. A choice of American or local breakfast is included. The two brother owners, Christian and Edgar, are very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.... More

DO NOT STAY HERE! I used booking.com to book my stay at this "lodge". The options were double or single bed rooms. I was traveling with my grandparents, showing them the country. I booked two rooms because I was under the impression their room only had one bed. Well when we arrived and got our two rooms, I learned that... More

I just loved this hotel! Upon arrival i was greeted by the owner, Chris, who not only gave me a map of the area, he gave me list of local places that were inexpensive to eat as well as brochures for tours and a tour of the hotel. My room was immaculate! I had a Queen sized bed, a refrigerator,... More

Before arrival we were a little bit worried, as on other websites we read a lot of bad reviews. How wrong they were! On arrival we were greeted by the owner, who explained us where to go, eat (Sabor Tico the cheapest and best food in this part of Costa Rica!) and what to do. He also showed us our... More

For $40 is the best place in the whole Monteverde or even the central Costa Rica. Just as for the room with a forest view is perfect and you can see the squirrels right from your queen size bed!;) As the city is really narrow it is just 10 minutes walk.

My girlfriend and I reserved three nights here. We like it so much we decided to stay another night. The two brothers who operate the hostile went above and beyond in helping us cordinate everything from places to eat, adventures to go on, and even helping friends of ours find another place to stay. (since Manakin Lodge was full). The... More

Manakin Lodge is a simple but beautiful hostel. We payed almost nothing for a beautiful room with a private bathroom, television, balcony with forest view and more beds than we needed. Breakfast was included and came in two versions: a continental breakfast and a Costa Rican breakfast. Either way it was delicious. Staff was very helpful and provided us with... More

Stayed here for 2 nights after having the place recommended to us by some travelers we had met in another town. The rooms are nice simple rooms with bathroom and small balcony. Breakfast is nice and there is coffee always provided all day if you wish. The staff really make this place and can answer all of your questions about... More

This place was charming. For the price, I was impressed by the private bathroom and delicious breakfast. I liked the location because it was slightly further from town, but you can still walk there from the bus stop (15 minutes or so). It is also nice that parking is available in case you drive. The staff was extremely friendly and... More

The personnel makes the place, otherwise i'd have rated it 3 stars. Price goes accordingly. Spacious room, hot shower and clean. But simple. The basic stuff. Simple breakfast served with a smile even before the opening hour because we had to get to an attraction early. Again, thumbs up for the personnel. You can count on them. One little problem... More
