Visually, La Ferme de Bouchemont is lovely. It's a pleasure to wake up and look out the window onto a courtyard with ducks and chickens wandering around, along with some cats and the owner's dog. The hamlet of Saint Symphorien is also quite charming. However, the service was really unacceptable--below what you'd expect even from a roadside motel. We stayed... More

We found this B & B through Allistar Sawday's book and have unsuccessfully tried to e-mail his site to express our disappointment. Therefore, we have chosen to write our review here. We drove from Chartres following the owner's onsite directions and had a terrible time finding it- hours wasted. When we called the owner she couldn't help us but my... More

We stayed here on way to Calais from West France and it was a great base. Our host was really helpful with advice, such as booking us into a bistro in Chartres when we arrived much later than expected and helping us get a fast train to Paris (just half an hour on the train from a nearby town). Breakfast... More

We stayed here for one night on our way South. When we arrived our booking had not been confirmed properly (my fault!) but Madame quickly made up a bed for us with no fuss (she gave us a glass of wine while we waited). The room was wonderful. Huge with a wonderful old fireplace. We had dinner which included wine.... More

our favorite stay over many many trips. The room was huge with a King bed, twin and a sofa with chairs! Still plenty of room. All looking out over the gsrden, pond and Stone Grange. Beautiful bathroom and modern inventive touches. Maria Carmen and her husband have an exceptional eye for style. No clutter and every touch is beautiful. We... More

We found this B&B in Alastair Sawday's guide and picked it because of its proximity to Chartres, the first stop on our trip around France. It turns out that it's about half an hour from Chartres, so not terribly close, but it did the job. There was no one there to greet us when we arrived around 4:00, but we'd... More
