Thank goodness we only booked one night, our room was dull and dingy, there was a container under the toilet to catch the dripping water, the tv was old fashioned with a loose ariel connection, the towel rail was dangerously hot with no signs to warn you, and to top it all, the travel kettle that was provided didn't work,... more

My collegue and i were working not too far away in Bacton so we didn't book in advance. Infact we were lucky to get in at all! We had the last room, luckily it had a fantastic sea view. The room was clean and tidy but a little basic. The tv couldn't pick up a station and there wasn't a... more

At the end of a seven hour journey, for a first, long overdue, visit to Norfolk for my birthday, I wept and wanted to go straight home when we had been shown to our room. We had booked an executive room with sea views and we were given an awful room (8), with a view of a wall, but a sea... more

Arriving late in the evening we were a little taken aback by the dowdiness of the entrance area and the old fashioned "office" serving as a reception and did wonder what we had let ourselves in for. Our room was one mentioned in a previous review as unacceptable - but we thought it was comfortable, clean, and well furnished despite... more

Advertised as a Hotel with an outdoor swimming pool. The pool was empty bar some green sluggy water in the bottom (in August)! The beer is poorly kept. The rooms are outdated. We paid extra for a seaview but had to look at it through dirty windows. The restaurant food was overpriced. We waited 50 minutes for a main meal... more

Lovely old building. Rooms were extremely clean and had everything that you could wish for (plenty of storage facilities, hairdryer, tv, tea-coffee facilities) Spotless bathroom facilities too. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast range. All in all, very good. Would definitely recommend it. Pics on internet don't do it justice! more

We're experienced restaurant-goers - our 1st-ever negative review. Skate wing was horrible, strong taste like ammonia - inedible! Staff serving food carrying cloths smelling of bleach. Every request flat turned down - a real "computer-says-NO" mentality, even to identify to us the cheeses on the cheeseboard. more

We cannot comment on the hotel rooms as we were in some rooms totally seperate from the hotel, unfortunately they were very basic and old fashioned/dowdy. Cleanliness was ok rooms smelt of animals. The lad behind the bar pat on the back was friendly and chatty and made you feel very welcome, the breakfast staff were not as friendly we... more

After reading previous reviews of this hotel, we were a bit worried about what to expect but we absolutely loved it. The hotel is old but full of character and the location couldn't be better. The breakfast was good and the evening meals, both in the restaurant and the bar, were tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were really friendly... more
