Arrived to a nice welcome for a 2 night stay. The Hotel is undergoing refurbishment and has been for a while according to some previous reviewers. We upgraded from standard and found ourselves in a lovely sized room allowing plenty of space to spread ourselves out. There was ample wardrobe space for the two of us. A few criticisms would... Very nice place with nice bar, lounge and dinning area some bar staff are a bit off but you can get that anywhere. Menu is very good and quality of what I had on both nights was excellent as I said it can be formal or informal dinning. I was there at the weekend and they were quite busy when it... More

Stopped by on the off chance earlier today. Were very happy to accommodate us. Plenty of seating. Excellent choice pf meats and veg from the carvery. Couldn't fault the meal at all. Well cooked, fresh and most importantly piping hot. Good selection of desserts and cakes. The hotel does accept card payments.

Room 256. Having eaten here before (and thoroughly enjoyed it) I decided to stay one night. Friendly staff in the dining room for the evening meal, which was really enjoyable., The room was OK. Bed comfortable, room a little basic perhaps. The shower pressure was abysmal and the shower cubicle rather too small for someone of my girth. Breakfast was... More

Okay so I booked for the 25th of December instead of 25th October because I'm a div. Turned up today (25/10) No problem at all. Super friendly staff, had smiles out of all the girls, the reception staff are also great. I had dinner here with my 4 year old boy. I opted for a lite gamon meal and wow... More

We stayed one night in an Executive double with breakfast (£95) and had dinner in the bar. The hotel is clearly undergoing refurbishment but there is along road ahead. Bedroom and bed were good size and bathroom was OK except for problems with the shower. Couldn't get BBC channels on the TV. My partner enjoyed his dinner, mine was very... More

Potholes at the entrance to the car park were not a good start! We then had a very long, arduous trip to our room with luggage for ten days. The Executive room was quite good and spotless. The bed, though big, was uncomfortable and the pillows small and cheap. The shower was a tight fit and not powerful enough. The... More

This hotel is hard to review. It offered some lovely plus points - soft fluffy towels, nice linen, good shower, some very personable staff, generous breakfast, good parking, lovely location, flat screen TV, free wifi. BUT Dirty soiled carpets in our superior twin room and corridors, mould and peeling paint in shower room, very dirty windows and net curtains. We... More

Just returned from a 3 night stay at The Royal, Our room was good with a large flat screen TV and walk in shower also a six foot bed. The food was good also and when we asked for jacket potatoes instead of chips this was no problem, the omelettes were large and well cooked with plenty of filling. There... More
