Stayed here as a family of four, with two young kids. The room was expensive, but large, clean and well appointed. 4 star is about right. Air conditioning a little weak but made up for by the large terrace overlooking Mt Etna where you could see the lava flows at night. We had a car, and the hotel will park... More

If you're okay with not staying IN Taormina, but in a neighbouring town, this will be a good choice. Castelmola is a lovely mediaeval town with great restaurant options and an interesting nightlife on weekends, worth the visit. By not staying that close to Taormina, though, a getaway has to be well planned in advance. The views of the Etna... More

Myself and my husband have just returned from this hotel which was our honeymoon. We were amazed by the views, which are panoramic and our room had a stunning view of Mount Etna. You do need to know that the hotel is perched right on a cliff top, although we rented a car and were able to drive up and... More

The Villa Sonia was the last stay in our holiday and it proved to be a fortuitous one. The holiday ended on a high not so much because of the quality of the hotel (good, but slightly faded) but the superb friendly service of the staff. I won't over-elaborate as the previous reviewer has made many of the same points,... More

We've just come back from our honeymoon here. How wonderful! We had a deluxe double room which was magnificent. The room was about the size of our house (granted, our house is pretty small, but still...) and the balcony overlooked the descent down to Taormina, with the mighty Etna rumbling away on the horizon. At night we could see the... More

Hotel was fantastic except for the shower. Too small to be taken serious. The views were to die for. Too far from Taromina to walk. You will need a shuttle bus or taxi. A half mile away was a great town but you had to walk up too many steps and then along a winding road.

We have just got back from a 14 night stay at Hotel Villa Sonia. I would definitely say the 4-star rating is a true reflection of the hotel. It's beautifully located with stunning views of Taormina and Mount Etna. It's so peaceful and relaxing and only a few minutes walk to Castelmola. The hotel room was great, massive bed and... More

Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes. Is it perfect? No it needs improvement. We were fortunate and had a room with a stunning view over the valley and up to Etna where at night we could see the glow of lava flows. But there are plenty of rooms with no views and which might... The hotel was OK overall but didn't have any sea view as expected from pictures. It is really high on top, and kind of hard to get around to beaches & nearby towns. Also, they close the pool at 6:30 and ask people to leave pool area.

I came at Villa Sonia with my girlfriend. We needed a break of 4 nights from busy city life we have both of us. We liked very much the hotel because everything is made to help you relaxed. The swimming pool, the nice view on the etna at the top of a mountain in a peaceful landscape, hotel private bus... More
