We stayed here for a week, and are keen to return sometime. We had a view of Etna from our room which was spectacular. The whole experience was relaxed and the staff were very friendly, especially if you made the effort to try to speak Italian! The only thing that was a shame were the wasps that made eating on... We stayed at the Villa Sonia from 13th June – 20th June just me & my husband; I have to say we had a brilliant time. The staff were really helpful and polite and always helped us with any questions we had and our room was a good size and well cleaned every day. The location of the hotel is... More

We stayed at this hotel last week, The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful every one. The views of Mount Etna from the dining room are amazing, and the whole place is so peaceful. We found it a really relaxing place to stay and would certainly recommend it. The shower was amazing, if you had the window open and looked... More

Lovely individual hotel situation a few miles up the extremely steep road out of Tauormina. Really welcoming staff who are keen to help. Bedrooms roomy if a bit basic but made exceptional by the stunning view of Mount Etna seen from the balcony. Restaurant good quality but a little pricey at 10 euros for an omlette. Go instead on the... More

Very nice hotel and very nice and helpful staff! Amazing view on the Etna ( if your room is on the back). The hotel is located on a hill a bit outside of the village of Castelmola: 5min to go and to climb a few stairs. To go to Taormina, it will be either by car, bus, hotel bus or... More

This hotel is fantastic. The pool with amazing view over the mountains, the hotel room with terrace, the bathroom and beds, the large dining area and the village nearby. It is almost on top of a mountain, so the road to it is a little difficult if you are not used to driving in the mountains. But totally worth it.... More

We stayed in the last week of May 2015. The first thing one has to remember when looking at star ratings, is that 4 stars in other countries does not necessarily mean the same as 4 stars in England/Germany/UK. But then, the prices are much cheaper than 4 star hotels in those countries too. If you bear this in mind... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2015

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid May. We had booked into a room with a view overlooking Etna, which is exactly what we got. We drove up from SE Sicily and could see Castelmola from below, in Taormina. It was a bit scary seeing how high the village is, above the coast. It was clearly signed and we... More

Spent5 nights here and was disappointed. Firstly be aware that the whole of Castelmola is on a cliff and if you don't like heights or are at all a vertigo sufferer stay well away. The hotel itself is rated highly but certainly did not deliver in the detail. The rooms are nice. The staff are mostly helpful and courteous (especially... More

Me and my partner flew into Sicily on the 6th May 2015 and arrived at Villa Sonia early afternoon that day. We were greeted by a lovely young lady, who sadly we didn't catch the name of (dark hair and usually wore glasses), who welcomed us to the hotel and told us everything we needed to know throughout our stay....
