This exsperience has left me wanting to come to sicily again. The stunning views in the morning as you woke up and had breckfast made a positive start to the day. If you didn't want to go out for a meal in castelmola , the restaurant had gorgeous food. If you like pools and sun bathing this is a good... More

This hotel clings to the mountainside of Castelmola and has wonderful views across to Mount Etna. We had a great room, everything high quality, and views of Etna from our balcony. Liked the complimentary pasta di mandorla (little almond cakes) provided on arrival. More views of Etna from the pool and the terrace. Breakfast was ok, not the best I've... More

My wife and I stayed for 10 nights in September. Hotel is charming and the location has amazing views so you might say 'all good' . However, whilst breakfast is good for the purpose , don't eat in the restaurant in the evening. It has as much atmosphere as your local library, so we tended to eat out and in... More

We stayed at the hotel for 13 nights in September to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary and had a lovely stay. We had booked a superior room overlooking Mount Etna and overall we were impressed. Comfortable (if slightly hard) bed, lovely antique furniture, good shower, great balcony, and fantastic view both down toward the coast and of Mount Etna (who... More

Spent 3 nights at this charming hotel. Beautiful, quaint and quiet. The hotel staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. The views are tremendous. You can even see Mt. Etna on a good day. The rooms are older and could use some updating, but not to say they should modernize completely. The lighting in our room and especially our bathroom was... More

My husband and I spent 3 nights of our 3 week honeymoon at Hotel Villa Sonia. While we loved the beautiful town of Castlemola we found this hotel to just be okay. The pros are definately the stunning views as well as the character of the place as it has many lovely antiques and hidden areas. The cleaning staff were... More

We have just spent 10 nights at the Hotel Villa Sonia, and to be honest I was quite concerned having read some reviews, but this is a lovely place to stay. It's position is stunning, amazing views to Mount Etna and personally we were happier in Castelmola than in busy Taormina. It is a very relaxing place to stay and... More

We had an amazing holiday at Villa Sonia. The hotel is delightful… the crowning glory is the little village of Castelmola, a short walk up the hill. Poolside with wonderful views by day...and a stroll out for a delicious (every time) lunch and supper in town, followed by a few drinks in a cobbled square amazing atmosphere. The only real... More

Stayed here as a family of four, with two young kids. The room was expensive, but large, clean and well appointed. 4 star is about right. Air conditioning a little weak but made up for by the large terrace overlooking Mt Etna where you could see the lava flows at night. We had a car, and the hotel will park... More

If you're okay with not staying IN Taormina, but in a neighbouring town, this will be a good choice. Castelmola is a lovely mediaeval town with great restaurant options and an interesting nightlife on weekends, worth the visit. By not staying that close to Taormina, though, a getaway has to be well planned in advance. The views of the Etna... More
