Hotel was fantastic except for the shower. Too small to be taken serious. The views were to die for. Too far from Taromina to walk. You will need a shuttle bus or taxi. A half mile away was a great town but you had to walk up too many steps and then along a winding road.

We have just got back from a 14 night stay at Hotel Villa Sonia. I would definitely say the 4-star rating is a true reflection of the hotel. It's beautifully located with stunning views of Taormina and Mount Etna. It's so peaceful and relaxing and only a few minutes walk to Castelmola. The hotel room was great, massive bed and... More

Would I stay here again? Yes. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes. Is it perfect? No it needs improvement. We were fortunate and had a room with a stunning view over the valley and up to Etna where at night we could see the glow of lava flows. But there are plenty of rooms with no views and which might... The hotel was OK overall but didn't have any sea view as expected from pictures. It is really high on top, and kind of hard to get around to beaches & nearby towns. Also, they close the pool at 6:30 and ask people to leave pool area.

I came at Villa Sonia with my girlfriend. We needed a break of 4 nights from busy city life we have both of us. We liked very much the hotel because everything is made to help you relaxed. The swimming pool, the nice view on the etna at the top of a mountain in a peaceful landscape, hotel private bus... More

The hotel overlooks Mt. Etna. Our view was lovely. We had two rooms. The rooms are aging. The beds are hard. One room came with an ant colony and the other room had no air conditioning or wifi. The breakfast was just fine. We ate dinner in the hotel one night and it was the least liked on our two... More

Sonia is literally on the edge both of the most incredible view and the slippery slope. It's got some lovely staff and a great little pool and an unbeatable view of the mighty smoking Etna, which is worth the fee alone. But it's fading and creaking in places. It looks a long while since someone spent any money here looking... More

Just back from a week at the Hotel Villa Sonia and I felt that I should write a review. I feel better qualified than most to review the hotel as this has been my third stay there. My first visit was in the late 1990's. I returned in 2012 for my honeymoon (which was great), and last week I visited... More

My partner & I very much enjoyed our visit to Hotel Villa Sonia. The views across the hills towards Mt Etna are beautiful, and eating our breakfast every day out on the terrace was a highlight of our stay. The staff are friendly, helpful & nothing is too much trouble. The room was comfortable & having a fridge and safe... More

Really enjoyed our stay here, everything very good Its and old worldly place built into the rock in a prime location The staff are very helpful and friendly, rooms cleaned everyday and the food at the restaurant and poolside are of high quality But what really makes this place special is the view of Etna..we were lucky enough to see her erupt...
