This is our fifth visit here as we feel so comfortable in this very old and interesting building. The proprietors Allyson, Colin and their daughter Lizzy are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are amazing and they always provide a personal touch - hence on our last visit in August this year they had remembered that we had come from... More

What an interesting building! Good size room for a family at a reasonable price. Friendly owners who gave us good tips. Nice views from the window. Interesting walks. Excellent breakfast, good value for the money. Nice yard to relax in. Very quiet. Could add some tables to the bathroom to put stuff on.

Great rustic looking building from the outside. With a welcoming host. Our family room was in the dormatry. Beds were comfy, room was spacious, en-suit was dated. The decor could do with a freshen up and the room was a bit dusty. Drafty windows and noisy when windy overnight. The breakfast was excellent all produce from the local butchers apparently.... More

First impression when we arrived about 9pm with no reservation was that nothing would be too much trouble, the delightful hostess gave us a warm, friendly welcome which was just what was needed. With its historic, homely, slightly worn in, comfy decor we didn't feel we had to stand on ceremony and the friendly atmosphere of calm relaxation made for... More

Architecturally, this is a lovely building and the entrance hall is in keeping, however the rest of the facility is unloved, uninteresting, and not particularly clean. Our room had stained carpeting and the bathroom was so tiny there was barely room to move. There is a lovely green area out the back with one bench, picnic tables (why?) and a... More

I am loathed to write anything bad about this place, because we loved the period building, the hosts were great and helpful, the breakfast was well presented and tasty (meat from local butcher) and the village/local area was beautiful. Ideal for Whitby and Sandsend, with a path running up the side of the hotel straight to Whitby. Old steam trains... More

Although a bit out of town so a 20 min walk along the rail path to Whitby or a taxi for about £6 it is well worth it. The breakfast is to die for - probably literaly as there is so much of it and quality too. There is an honesty bar, great gardens, lovely olde worldie atmosphere. No special... More

Had a two night stay here and what a pleasure it was. The hotel has been restored very sympathetically with out losing any of the expected luxuries. The fixtures were of a high level. With loads of plug points in the room. Owners will happily give you ideas of what to visit in the local area.

My review is linked to Tillydog72. The Hotel was not clean, the room carpet needed a good clean, the sink and bathroom needed a good clean. very sparse, not room service and hotel manager needed a course in Customer Service. He clearly did not want people in his home. Would not recommend .

My partner and I stayed at Ruswarp Hall for 4 nights and were very disappointed to say the least. On arrival, guests are presented with a beautiful Jacobean manor house decorated and furnished to suit the period but lack of routine cleaning and attention to detail sadly spoils what could be a perfect Bed and Breakfast location. The sign outside... More
